This year has been particularly challenging for the travel industry including Disney. First, the company saw the closure of its theme parks all over the world due to the global pandemic. On top of this, Disney Cruise Line sailings are completely halted for the time being.
Most recently, Disney Cruise Line canceled any sailings lasting longer than seven nights due to new guidelines by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Previously, the company had already canceled cruises through the end of February 2021.
Now, it seems that Disney Cruise Line will be canceling cruises through the end of March. When we attempted to look at cruises for March on the website, the month of March was completely grayed out and we could not select it. UPDATE: You can now click on March 2021, but no cruise options come up.
Disney also just extended its cruise date flexibility: the Cruise Date Flexibility Option previously allowed guests to change their sail date up to 15 days prior to departure for any cruise booked before the end of 2020 and sailing before the end of May 2021 without penalty. Now, the Cruise Date Flexibility Option allows guests to change their sale date up to 15 days prior to departure for any cruise booked before January 31, 2021 and sailing before June 30, 2021.
Disney Cruise Line has not made an official announcement about this yet, but this could be an indication that such an announcement is forthcoming. We’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation and keep you updated!
