Well, it’s official, the Keister Coaster looks pretty different than it used to.
This iconic slide at Disney’s BoardWalk Inn Resort’s Luna Park Pool has been under refurbishment for a few weeks now. Recently, we got a glimpse of the new clown-less design (after Imagineers fixed a certain typo), and now we’re seeing it in person!
We swung by the BoardWalk today and noticed that walls are down around the brand-new Keister Coaster facade. Now, instead of a moderately nightmare-inducing clown, we’ve got a colorful barrier featuring Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, Daisy, and Pluto.
The new slide is definitely a BIG departure from the OG Keister design. With the use of the new Mickey and friends designs, the response from our team seems to be mixed. Some seem to think it’s a fun change, others…miss the clown. It’s certainly not the most EXCITING design as Disney slides go, but it’s at least nice to have a new detail to look at!

I wasn’t crazy about the clown slide but it was a ‘Wow’ factor. The new slide is cute but boring. I wished they did something more exciting.

The Boardwalk Resort is themed on Coney Island and Atlantic City.. mostly Coney. When people talk about scary clowns.. i laugh.. its home to me 🙂 I live in walking distance to the rides and beach here in Coney.
Jack says
Much better than the old creepy clown.

Yuk, a step backwards for sure. The imagineers must have been on vacation for this one. It is disappointing in how many iconic attractions around the world end up being a poor re-pavement once a refurbishment has been completed. A simple smiling face of the iconic clown, maybe with a winking eye or a jolly laugh once you passed thru to the pool would have been much better than this. Bad Show for sure…

It looks like you are inside Mickey & Minnie’s Railway from HS. Cute.

That clown is utterly terrifying. I’m not sorry it’s gone.
Nicole says
Much cuter then man the original clown!
John says
I like it. The clown was always little creepy but it’s what made the Boardwalk pool unique.

a very long time ago on my first stay at boardwalk, i was uninformed about the clown slide. on opening my balcony curtains i had a direct view straight into its gaping maw. while the terror has passed i admit that i am not sad to see it go.

As an OG member of the DVC BWV from the ’90s, the Clown Slide was a rite of passage for my kids while they were growing up. If they could handle the so-called “scary” clown face at night, they could handle anything. I know we’re going to miss that orange-haired clown. So, in honor of the *cough* *cough* new & improved water slide, I took the liberty of changing a few words of a favorite holiday song:
There’ll be parties for hosting,
Marshmallows for toasting,
And swimming out in the pool.
There’ll be scary clown stories,
And tales of the glories of
Vacations of long, long ago…

Looks like a cheap replacement for the clown by some unimagineer
Essie says
I LOVE it.I didn’t like the clown at all.

Personally, I love the new look. Think of it from a vacationing family view point… it’s kind of hipster version of the characters and mimics the new ride at Hollywood Studios and is about 1 million percent more kid/human friendly. That clown was crazy-stupid-scary looking. I’m shocked Disney built it in the first place.
Susan McCleish says
cheap
Addie says
I like it! It’s cute and fun!
Paul in CT says
I never found the clown to be scary. It fit much better with the Boardwalk theming. This one appears to be a less expensive and less imaginative replacement that doesn’t match the Boardwalk theming. Children may like it more.
