Disney has released two MAJOR deals for 2021.
One deal will net you a BIG hotel rate discount, the other will net you free park tickets and they CAN’T be used together. So, which one will get you the better deal? Let’s take a look!
To compare these deals, we’re going to use a hypothetical family of four with two kids ages 10+. They want to travel to Disney World from January 8th through January 12th with 4 nights in a hotel and 5 days in the park.
Two Free Park Tickets Offer
With the first offer, the family could book a 4-night/3-day room and ticket package at select Disney resorts and receive an additional two days of theme park tickets.
This means, regardless of the resort booked the family will pay the price of a 3-day ticket and get 5 days. For this date, that means 5-day tickets would cost $1,819 for the whole family and 3-day tickets would cost $1,331 for the whole family. Ultimately, this would save $488.
Up to 35% Off Hotels Offer
Let’s see how that compares to the other offer! With this option, the family could save up to 35% on their room at select hotels. The value resorts are 20% off, the moderate resorts are 25% off, and the deluxe resorts and villas are 35% off. That means, we need to look at how much this offer saves for each category.
Disney Value Resorts
We’ll use Disney’s Art of Animation Resort for our value resort example! Booking Art of Animation with this offer will save $34 per night or $136 off the whole trip.
That’s not NEARLY as big a savings as the ticket offer!
Disney Moderate Resorts
We’ll use The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort as our moderate example. Booking a cabin at Fort Wilderness with this offer will save $92 per night or $368 for the whole trip.
Hmm… that’s closer, but the ticket offer still looks like the better deal.
Disney Deluxe Resorts and Villas
For our deluxe example, we’ll look at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. This offer will save the family $229 per night or $916 for the whole trip.
WOW! That’s almost DOUBLE the savings of the ticket offer in this case!
So, which deal is better?
Which of these offers is better for you totally depends on your situation! If you’re staying at a value, moderate, or even lower-end deluxe resort; you might want to swing for the ticket offer. On the other hand, you could see WAY bigger savings from the discounted hotel offer if you’re staying at a more expensive resort.
Now, the number of people, choice of resort, and dates can all have an effect on the amount these deals save you so don’t be afraid to crunch those numbers yourself and see which deal REALLY saves you the most.

If I’m going to Disney with some friends, couldn’t I book the tickets under my name and have someone else put the hotel under their name? That way we could get BOTH discounts? Or does Disney have a way of preventing that?
Mary says
I think Disney has just literally out priced themselves ! Universal, Seaworld and Tampa’s resort will be seeing us soon ! Too much Disney over these past 37 years anyway! Boredom has set in, so much so that we sold DVC !
DFB Sarah says
Stefanie, the free tickets are only available with a full package deal, I believe.
