Park hopping returns to Disney World this week and that’s a pretty big step back towards a more normal Disney experience.
With guests being able to go between parks again starting January 1st, Disney also announced that park-to-park transportation will return as well. BUT, one very big staple of park transportation is not set to return at the start of 2021.
We reached out to a Disney World Cast Member today who noted that the EPCOT monorail loop will continue to be unavailable until further notice.
We weren’t sure whether the EPCOT routes would return with park-to-park transportation, but according to the Cast Member, we will not be taking the highway in the sky to EPCOT on January 1st. At this time, there is no set date for the return.
The EPCOT monorail route closed with the parks in mid-March.
While other methods of Disney World transportation have returned — such as buses, the Skyliner, Friendship Boats, and even the Magic Kingdom monorail loop — we haven’t seen any movement from the EPCOT monorail.

Currently, if you want to hop on the monorail, you can head to stations at the Transportation and Ticket Center, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, or Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
At this time, the monorail station is closed at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort due to the current refurbishment work.

Transportation in Disney World is still changing fairly regularly as Disney continues to contend with the global health crisis. When in doubt on your Disney trip, talk to a Cast Member at your resort hotel to find out what transportation options are available for you.
As always, stay tuned to DFB for all the latest updates! We’ll be covering the return of park hopping this week so keep an eye on the site.

I have been to Disney X2 since October 28. We are again going in February. I don’t understand with all the social distancing in place why you would not have this running to allow more availability to guests. Is it a expense that Disney doesn’t want to do and with that being said hire on more CM for drivers? That is about the only thing that makes financial sense to me.
You can’t social distance on a monorail people don’t respect one another’s space to begin with.
Disney world needs to have the monorail running again to Epcot it’s a much needed transportation other wise Disney will start another bootle neck for park guest trying to go to Epcot and maybe other parks we all know that Disney is taking a hit and we r thankful that Disney is still open but guest need to b able to get to the park that they want to go to a lot of guest have very limited time there and want to c and enjoy all that they can it’s so expensive to go there
