In preparation for it’s 50th anniversary this year, Disney World has several fun and exciting projects in the works!
Although we’ve confirmed that certain projects will open up like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Creperie de Paris, others have left us wondering if they actually will open in 2021. It looks like some projects could be opening later than originally expected, including the new TRON coaster.
Because of the theme park shutdowns due to the global pandemic, timelines for construction projects have been pushed back. According to USA Today, that means some of these big projects may miss the 50th anniversary of Disney World.
The TRON Coaster coming to Tomorrowland in Magic Kingdom, “isn’t expected to open during the park’s 50th birthday year,” according to USA Today. We’ve been watching the construction progress for this new thrill ride for quite some time.
While mentioning EPCOT construction plans, USA Today says that Harmonious, the new nighttime spectacular “will likely debut in 2021.” However, it is mentioned that the “Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana, will probably open after 2021.” The Moana-inspired attraction will feature an exploration trail and interactive water features.
The post mentions other smaller projects that are likely to be updated including the addition of animatronic President-elect Joe Biden to the Hall of Presidents. Disney has not officially confirmed that the TRON Coaster and the Journey of Water will not open in 2021, but we will keep an eye out for any additional details from Disney.

Sothe Tron coaster isn’t going to open this year. Is there a way the site could be secured/made safe enough so that the train could run this fall?

If Biden isn’t a feature player at Hall of Presidents I’ll be so disappointed. I might need to push back the date a bit!

Gee imagine that. I bet if they hadn’t halted constron during the 3 months that the parks were closed these rides would be finished.

Too bad about torn… I don’t care anyway, probably won’t ride it… another spin and puke dark coaster. I do not understand the big deal about Moana. The movie didn’t do very well when it came out. To redirect resources needed theming at the Polynesian and this water attraction does not seem warranted. The water thing should be at Epcot if it is at all educational. I do not understand why construction was delayed at the parks. They should have been intensified while the parks were closed. Poor planning and use of resources and manpower if you ask me.

Do we know what this means for the train at Magic Kingdom? I was hoping that would be open when we went in December.
