We’ve seen some pretty funny issues with animatronics at Disney World in the past year!
Elsa in Frozen Ever After
From Elsa forgetting the words to her signature song and Anna’s face disappearing to John’s hand falling off on Carousel of Progress, it seems that no Disney animatronic is safe from malfunctions! EPCOT’s Gran Fiesta Tour hasn’t been immune to these issues — José was missing back in July. Last week, the ride encountered another animatronic issue, and today we’ve got an update!
Last week, we noticed that the Donald Duck animatronic from the final scene of the ride had been replaced by none other than a PLANT! Really? Did Disney think we wouldn’t notice?
Donald Duck’s Understudy
Honestly, this swap for the “understudy” made us laugh uncontrollably.

Donald Duck Was Replaced By…A Plant?!
But, when we boarded the ride today, plant Donald was no more! Maybe he called in sick today?
Donald Duck (as well as the replacement plant) is gone!
We’ll keep an eye out to see if any other foliage gets their moment in the spotlight.
Adios, plant Donald!
