The Taste of EPCOT International Festival of the Arts just kicked off and we’ve eaten A LOT of goodies lately.
There’s one dish that stood out today…and it has nothing to do with the festival! We were strolling by our favorite fish and chip joint in EPCOT and noticed a placard for the Chicken and Mushroom Pie. Ummm. Chicken and mushrooms stuffed in a puff pastry? Don’t mind if we do!
You have the option of choosing the chicken or cornish beef pie at Yorkshire County Fish Shop. We’ve had the Chicken and Mushroom Pie before and once we saw it was back, we were craving the savory feast again. It was a cold day and we needed to warm up! (Maybe we’ll try the cornish if it’s available around St. Patrick’s Day!) The pastry is filled with mushrooms, chicken, leeks, and a small amount of bacon.
It also comes with a heaping pile of chips(a.k.a. fries)! The meal is $9.99 and the portion size was nice and hefty. It could easily be split for lunch. Or, like, a pre-dinner meal.
It seems fate has brought us to Yorkshire County because this savory snack was GOOD. The pastie is so delish and was baked in a buttery, flaky crust. It was almost a treat in itself. Just like we remembered! The mushroom and chicken seemed to be baked together in gooey, warm gravy. It was the coziest bite for a cold Florida day like today!
Our one complaint? It could use more bacon. We can always use more bacon! The salty pork may have balanced out the other flavors. Otherwise, we’d say this chicken pie was a hit!
