UPDATE: At this time Mobile Order is available once again at Polynesian Village Resort dining locations including Kona Cafe and Captain Cook’s.Â
Like all places, things happen at Disney World.
We’ve seen malfunctioning animatronics, evacuations of attractions, and attractions closed due to technical difficulties. But sometimes, problems happen at resorts, too.
Today, we learned there is currently a water leak at Disney’s Polynesian Resort. As a result, most of the resort’s dining locations are currently closed, including Kona Cafe. A Cast Member confirmed that reservations have been cancelled for the day. When we visited the location, it was closed, but we didn’t see any evidence of water anywhere.
The Barefoot Pool Bar is also currently closed. Cast Members told us that Capt. Cook’s is only open for bottled water and grab and go items.
When we looked at placing a Mobile Order at Kona Cafe and Capt. Cook’s, we got the same message for both locations asking us to pick a different location.
The lobby restrooms are also currently closed.
However, Pineapple Lanai is still open if you’re craving a Dole Whip outside the parks.
The resort’s gift shops are also still currently open.
The resort is currently only open to stays for DVC members, and a Cast Member told us those rooms should be fine. We’ll be sure to keep an eye on the situation and let you know when we have more information. There is no estimation on how long this issue will take to fix, but we’ll keep you updated.

The water leak may not be in any of those areas, however, due to hot water requirements for cooking and sanitation, a water leak can cause interruption in that and so that is why they are closed. The bathrooms are more than likely without the water pressure needed for a good flush!

What happened to the Trails End restaurant ? Breakfast!

The water leak is in the supply lines apparently. So its not leaking into the resort but they don’t have freshwater supply to a lot of the main building and at least one other (thankfully rooms are closed) .

We have never stayed at the Poly before but booked a weekend in February. All five of us were relying entirely on the availability of food on-site for our short trip. So what are our options if this isn’t fixed by our dates? What places are in walking distance or a bus ride away?
Thanks!

Hi, April! Looks like the restaurants are back open (we checked Mobile Order, and they’re available now). If by chance you have any issues while you’re living the island life at the Poly in February, consider trying dining options at Grand Floridian or Contemporary. You can walk from the Poly to GF, or you can walk from Poly to the Transportation and Ticket Center and take the Resort Monorail to GF or Contemporary. We love Grand Floridian Cafe, Gasparilla Island Grill, and Contempo Cafe.

It sounds and looks like they may need to dig a new well. My grandfather’s house did the same thing we needed a new well and new plumbing throughout! The discoloration of the water was rust and human excrement! Everyone should book a newer hotel just to be on the safe side.
