For MONTHS the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover has been closed for refurbishment.
We have been keeping a really close eye on this attraction, but month after month, it’s refurbishment period has continued to be extended. Most recently, the refurbishment was extended through January 30th. We saw the attraction being tested in early January and thought it’s refurbishment might be coming to an end. But, we (unfortunately) must share with you that the PeopleMover refurbishment has been extended once again.
As we checked the Disney refurbishment calendar this morning, we saw that the PeopleMover refurbishment now appears to have been extended through February 28th, 2021.
When you look at March 1st, 2021, the PeopleMover refurbishment no longer appears on that day.
So, it seems we may have to wait a bit longer to ride around Tomorrowland and people-watch from the skies. Of course, this refurbishment schedule is subject to change, so we’ll keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find.

Have they said when Hall of Presidents might open again/ I am sure the refurbishment is to add President Biden to the group of Presidents.
DFB Sarah says
Joan, to my knowledge they have not said when we can expect it to reopen. Past updates have taken a varying number of months depending on how extensive the update is.

Did they give a reason why the delay is happening? They were testing it just the other day.
Roz says
Shocker ! The people mover has extended down time again. I’m sure Hall of Presidents won’t take long at all to add Biden and open again. It’s ok. I’m not interested in it anyway.
Ron Mueller says
The reason for the delay is due to “dead zones” in the track. People Mover is one of the oldest rides in Magic Kingdom and during replacement of the electric/magnetic drive system, a few spots are not operating as expected, ergo the extended non-human operational testing you may have observed. Additionally, the track now has sensors throughout, indicating the position of all cars at all times. As with any new system, even on an old ride, there are a few bugs to work out when adding new technology.
The People Mover was always a slow ride, it’s refurbishment seems poetically slow as well.

We love , love, love the People Mover! It has been one of our favorite rides since 1973!! Can’t imagine it never, not being there. Hope they get it refurbished by March 2021. And that goes for the railroad all around the Magic Kingdom also!
