We’ve got GREAT news for fairytale fans.
The tale of Cinderella has had a BUNCH of iterations. Sure, Disney’s Cinderella is certainly iconic, but the fandom garnered by Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella with Brandy and Whitney Houston is nothing to scoff at. Now, this fan-favorite film is going to get a WHOLE lot easier to watch!
Disney just announced that the 1997 TV movie, Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella starring Brandy and Whitney Houston, will be coming to Disney+ “at the stroke of midnight” on February 12th.
This film is beloved by many for its charming music like “Impossible” and “In My Own Little Corner,” and for its star-studded cast with actors like Whoopi Goldberg, Victor Garber, Bernadette Peters, Paolo Montalban, and MORE.
The film finally comes to Disney+ after Brandy herself reached out and some outstanding rights issues were resolved, according to Variety. Producer Martin Chase said, “It is so rewarding that over 25 years later, our Cinderella is still relevant and beloved.”
And she is SO right. We DO love this iteration of Cinderella! We can’t wait to snuggle up on our couches and sing along to some of our favorites as we’re enchanted all over again. We knew we were holding out hope when we left this flick off our movies that will never come to Disney+ list!
