Monorail fans: you may want to sit down for this one.
Obviously, the delicious food and unique atmosphere of a Disney restaurant contribute to its theming. But so do the Cast Members! Their costumes play a huge part in the experience — and today, we noticed that some of those costumes had gotten a makeover.
At Contempo Cafe at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, the costumes have gone from bland to busy. Gone are the tan aprons and caps…say hello to MONORAILS!
Okay, let’s break this costume down a bit. Shannon was kind enough to model this look for us, which consists of a neon green collared shirt under the (monorail!!) apron.
The apron has SO many monorails: we’ve got red, orange, lime, coral, and more! It’s an in-your-face tribute to the iconic monorail station in the middle of the resort. And you know what? We’re here for it.
These new costumes may be an eyeful, but we think they’re an upgrade from the old ones! What do you think: are they fun or a little off the rails? Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!

Either costume, old and new, were instep with the environment… I would prefer the George Jetson look myself… that would be really contemporary. I thank my lackey stars that I had the good fortune to eat at this location when it was “the Steak House”. I loved the soft contemporary look and feel of the early to mod 1060’s era.
