It really has been quite the refurbishment saga with the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom.
This often underrated ride (which has a bit of a cult following) has been under refurbishment for MONTHS. And, that refurbishment has continually been extended. Over the past few months, we’ve seen people working on the ride, and some testing going on, but it still has not reopened to guests. But, today we spotted something that could mean we are one BIG step closer to hoping aboard this ride again!
As we walked around Magic Kingdom today, we saw that the PeopleMover was being tested (something we’ve seen before). BUT, this time was different! This time, the PeopleMover was actually MOVING REAL PEOPLE! It’s a bit difficult to see in the photo below, but we saw one individual sitting in the front of the ride and another sitting near the back.
Here’s a close up! There are actual people on the PeopleMover and we couldn’t be happier.
It looked like these two individuals were Cast Members. We expect they were sitting on the ride for testing purposes. The ride itself is still listed as closed to guests on My Disney Experience.
We later saw the PeopleMover pause and then resume moving again.

I wish they would infancy the theming and guest experience inside space mountain. It could be immensely improved. The same with the journey inside the Carousel of Progress and Stitch buildings. It is a great place to take in the sights and relax for a few minutes, but it could be so much better. Come on Disney…

We were in the MK on Tuesday, February 9 and saw the same thing. They were testing with people who appeared to be cast members.
