Planning on going on a Disney Cruise that departs from or arrives back at Port Canaveral in Florida?
Previously, a lot of guests would just hop directly on a Disney bus to get from their hotel or Orlando International Airport to Port Canaveral and then start their Disney cruise adventure. With the announcement that Disney’s Magical Express will be discontinued in 2022, you might be wondering if you’ll still be able to take Disney transportation to and from the airport and Port Canaveral, or between your Disney hotel and Port Canaveral. And now we’ve got an update.
Earlier today, we spoke with a Disney Cruise Line Cast Member who confirmed that while the Magical Express will be discontinued in 2022, Disney Cruise Line transportation will continue. Essentially, the Cast Member said that what’s stopping is Disney’s transportation between its hotels and Orlando International Airport. But, Disney Cruise Line transportation between the airport and Port Canaveral, as well as between the Disney hotels and Port Canaveral will continue.
The Disney Cruise Line also confirms this. Specifically, it notes that “Ground transfers between Orlando International Airport and Port Canaveral are available for purchase.” Just keep in mind that Disney Cruise Line transportation between the airport and Port Canaveral are available on embarkation and debarkation days only and costs $39 per Guest. You can call (800) 951-3532 to add ground transfers in advance. This is highly recommended because a limited number of spots on this ground transportation may be available for purchase upon arrival.
You can, of course, take a different form of transportation from the airport to the Port (including a taxi or other service) if you want to privately arrange for that.
If you’re planning on staying at a Disney hotel prior to your cruise, or after your cruise, transfers between your Disney hotel and Port Canaveral are also available for an additional fee. Specifically, the Disney Cruise Line website specifies that “transfers are available, for an additional fee, between the airport, hotel and cruise port.” You can call Disney Cruise Line at (800) 951-3532 for more information or to add these transfers. Transportation may include a motor coach, minibus or taxi, depending on your arrival time and party size.
So, if you need transportation directly from the airport to your Disney hotel, starting in 2022 Disney’s Magical Express will no longer be an option. You will, however, be able to book other services like taxis, rideshares, etc. But, even after Disney’s Magical Express has ended, it appears Disney Cruise Line transportation between Port Canaveral and the Airport, as well as between the Disney hotels and Port Canaveral will continue.
This, of course, may be subject to change in the future. We’ll be on the lookout for any updates and let you know if we spot anything new in the future.
