Even though we were convinced that 2020 would last forever, we’re now three months into 2021!
This year has been pretty eventful in Disney World so far, with several policy changes, lots of construction, and plenty of new offerings. We’ve been looking out for all the latest Disney news, and if you’re planning on traveling to the parks and resorts in March, there are quite a few things you need to know about!
1. The Flower & Garden Festival is in Full Swing
One of the most anticipated events of the year, the EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival, began on Wednesday, March 3rd, and lasts through July 5th.
Throughout the festival, guests will get to experience special entertainment, delicious eats, and a variety of gardens and topiary displays!
If you’re looking for a reason to visit Disney World in March — this could be exactly what you’re looking for.
This is one of EPCOT’s largest festivals and there’s plenty to experience!

2. Blizzard Beach is Reopening
Have you been missing Disney World’s water parks? Well, don’t worry because Blizzard Beach is reopening on March 7th. Due to health and safety measures, some things will be a bit different in the park, but guests will once again get to experience the Disney World waterparks.
Typhoon Lagoon remains closed at this time, but the Blizzard Beach reopening also brings the return of the Park Hopper Plus ticket option. We’re curious to see how the addition of an open water park impacts a reopened Disney World, so stay tuned for all the updates! We will be reporting live from the reopening.

3. There Are Several Refurbishments
Before your March trip to Walt Disney World, make sure that you check out the current list of refurbishments around the parks and resorts. Several Disney Resort pools are getting fixed up, and some construction is happening in a few hotels as well.
Besides work at the resorts, you’ll find several temporarily closed attractions in the parks. including Kali River Rapids, the Walt Disney World Railroad, the Hall of Presidents, and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover (which has been through quite a lot in the last year). We give weekly refurbishment updates, so make sure to keep an eye out for those to know what’s closed.

4. Your Magic Kingdom Photos May Look Weird
Currently, two iconic photo spots in Magic Kingdom look a little different than they usually do. First of all, the Main Street, U.S.A. train station is currently behind a very large (and very obvious) scrim.
Cinderella Castle’s stage is undergoing some construction, so there are some walls and planters blocking part of the view.
They shouldn’t really affect your magical photos too much, but you may not be able to get as close to the castle as you usually do.
The castle still looks gorgeous from a distance!

5. It’s Spring Break Season
March is the time of the year that generally kicks of Spring Break for most of the U.S. Unfortunately, this means that crowd levels are likely to be higher this month. We’ve seen Disney Park Passes get booked up quickly for those planning trips in the coming weeks.
The good news is that Disney World has been extending park hours for some of these days, meaning that even if it’s crowded, guests will get more time in the parks. We’ll be keeping an eye on wait times and crowd levels over the next two months and reporting the honest results back to our readers.

6. Concerts Are Returning to EPCOT
Typically, EPCOT hosts musical performances for each festival, ranging from popular bands to Broadway stars singing Disney hits. While the Garden Rocks! Concert Series won’t be returning for the Flower & Garden Festival, we will be getting a small taste of the EPCOT concert experience.
Local bands from the Orlando area will get the chance to perform in the park during the festival, and we’ll get to experience concerts on a smaller scale than usual. This may pave the way for the typical offerings to return in the future.
Here’s the Full List of Bands Performing at Flower & Garden!
7. We’re Keeping an Eye on Construction at EPCOT
Several big things are currently in the works at EPCOT, considering the whole park is getting transformed. However, some of these updates are coming sooner than others. We’ve been noticing a lot of progress for the new fireworks show, Harmonious — seriously, how could we not notice? Those barges are HUGE!
We’re also watching the France Pavilion’s expansion area carefully. It seems that the new section with Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and La Creperie de Paris is nearing completion, and we’re wondering when the opening date could be.
Also, a new soundtrack and new lighting just debuted at the front of the park.
The front of EPCOT is looking GOOD.

8. A Big Resort Deal Ends Soon
If you’ve been debating on taking a trip before mid-April, then now is your time to book! Currently, guests can save up to 35% on Disney Resort rooms for stays between now and April 17th, but the booking window for that offer ends on March 15th.
However, if you’re not prepared to take such a last-minute trip, there are still several other deals going on right now. You can save on hotel rooms, score free tickets, and get great rates if you’re an Annual Passholder or member of the military.

9. The Disney Junior Character Breakfast is Coming Back
If you’ve got little ones who are BIG fans of Disney Junior characters, then here’s some good news — the Disney Junior character breakfast option is returning to Hollywood & Vine on March 22nd. Reservations are currently open for the experience.
On the menu, you’ll find all-you-can-eat pancakes, French toast stuffed with chocolate hazelnut spread, a toasted open-faced salmon bagel, four-egg scramble, four-egg cheese omelet, and a plant-based egg frittata. Our mouths are watering just thinking about it!

10. A Change to the Face Mask Policy
A few days ago, Disney updated their face mask policy to state that guests must now keep their masks on at a restaurant unless they are actively eating or drinking. This means that face coverings must remain on when ordering, before your meal arrives, and after you finish eating.
We’ve been keeping an eye out to see how this policy is affecting dining in the parks, and we’ll make sure to let you know of any issues that we encounter. This is very different than the policy that Disney World had thus far, so you’ll want to note this change before you travel!
Here’s What Our Experience With the New Dining Mask Policy Was Like!
Well, there you have it, 10 things that you’ll need to know about Walt Disney World in March 2021. Some things are changing, some things are updating, but Disney World is still just as magical and entertaining as ever!
