As Disney World continues its phased reopening, modifications have taken place in order to accommodate more guests in certain areas. Without FastPass+ and with the necessity of separating parties by six feet in queue areas, those lines can get mighty long! Since capacity increased last year and more guests are starting to travel again, those lines are only getting longer.
Disney has remedied the ever-growing wait times by shifting from a model of every other row being loaded with guests to a model of EVERY row being loaded with guests.
On certain rides like Rise of the Resistance, Living With the Land, Frozen Ever After, and Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, plexiglass shields were installed in between rows to allow for proper distancing while still being able to board each row.
On other rides, particularly the faster-moving, roller coaster-type rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Test Track, and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, every row is being loaded with guests with no plexiglass shields in between rows. Today, we noticed that the Barnstormer is another ride in Disney World now boarding every row.
We definitely noticed the line moving faster with these modifications! While there are no plexiglass shields added to the train, plexiglass shields were installed in the queue areas.
We hopped in line today, and sure enough, every row is now being loaded with guests. Currently, this ride will board every row unless a party was too big to fit in the remaining rows of a train. In our instance, the last row behind us was empty because we were a Single Rider and the party behind us in line was a party of four (which is too many to fit in one row).
We’ll let you know if and when more Disney World rides and attractions make further modifications to their boarding process!
