With the start of Disney World’s 50th Anniversary just a few months away, we’re seeing a LOT of attractions and areas all around the park getting some refurbishments.
Cinderella Castle already got a new paint job, but it’s getting some more sprucing up now. We’ve also seen various hotel areas, hotel pools, and rides all over Disney World get some updates. And now a MAJOR spot in Magic Kingdom is set to receive some refurbishment too!
Looking for cupcakes, cookies, and other sweet treats in Magic Kingdom? Well, the Main Street Confectionery is a spot lots of guests stop at for their sweet snacking needs.
But, soon this spot will be CLOSED for refurbishment! According to the Disney refurbishment calendar, the Confectionery is currently set to close on March 29th, 2021.
The calendar then shows that the refurbishment is set to continue through at least May 22nd, 2021.
We say “at least” because Disney World park hours, and other information like refurbishment schedules, have only been released through May 22nd at the moment, so we can’t see the schedules past that date. It’s very possible that this refurbishment will continue past May 22nd.
Once more park hours and schedules are released into later in the year, we’ll be sure to check on this and see whether/how far this refurbishment gets extended.
Update: Park hours have been released through May 29th, and the Confectionery refurbishment is now listed through May 29th. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates.
What other refurbishments are going on around Disney World or set to start soon? Well, recently “It’s Tough to Be a Bug” in Disney’s Animal Kingdom closed for its refurbishment.
Another BIG Animal Kingdom ride is also currently closed for refurbishment.

And at Magic Kingdom, we are STILL waiting for the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover to reopen.Â
The ride has been under refurbishment for an extremely long period of time, but we’re watching for any updates.

There are also refurbishments going on at the Big Blue Pool over at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and the Hippy Dippy Pool at Disney’s Pop Century Resort.
At Disney’s Polynesian Resort, there is some MAJOR construction going on as the guest rooms get a Moana-inspired refurbishment and the entryway at the resort also gets a new look.
Recently, we got a FIRST LOOK at the new Polynesian Moana-inspired rooms and they are beautiful!
Reservations are now available for the Moana-themed rooms at the Polynesian.
You can get a look at the new rooms here!
Stay tuned for more updates about all of the projects being worked on throughout Disney World.

Wow … they must be doing a full remodel/renovation for it to be closed for at least two months over spring break holidays and as schools let out. I’m sure it’ll be done in time for the big anniversary celebrations. Can’t wait to see if it’s totally new/different!

Where else will I be able to get my favorite Mini Mouse caramel apple in the park?
DFB Sarah says
Michelle, you can typically find caramel apples at Big Top Treats, too.
Michelle Sullivan says
Great! Thank you Sarah.
