We have another delicious Disney copycat recipe to share!
We love recreating our favorite Disneyland Resort bites in our own kitchen, but this recipe is, even more, special because a visit to Big Thunder Ranch BBQ is no longer an option! This beloved family-style BBQ joint closed to make room for Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge, but don’t worry! If you find yourself craving these long-lost ribs, Disney just released a recipe for the long-lost Big Thunder Ribs. These ribs are sweet and tangy bites of porky goodness. Let’s get started!
A homemade BBQ rub, a little bit of time, and a bunch of spareribs are all you need to feel like you’re back at Big Thunder Ranch BBQ!
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 tablespoons lemon pepper
- 2 tablespoons seasoning salt
- 2 tablespoons paprika
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- 1 tablespoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon onion powder
- 1/4 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 (4-pound) rack pork spareribs, trimmed of excess fat
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 cup favorite barbecue sauce
Directions:
Step one: Combine the lemon pepper, seasoning salt, paprika, sugar, brown sugar, cumin, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper in a medium bowl to create the Citrus Roundup BBQ Rub. Stir to combine, and set aside
Step two: Sprinkle the Citrus Roundup BBQ Rub on both sides of the ribs, massaging the meat to adhere. Cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 8 hours or up to overnight
Step three: Preheat the oven to 350º. Place ribs in a roasting pan or on a baking sheet, and pour water into the pan. Cover with foil and roast for 1 hour
Step four: Remove the pan from the oven and uncover. Pour off any excess water. Evenly coat the top of the ribs with your favorite barbecue sauce. Return pan to oven and roast for 30 minutes more
Step five: Remove the pan from the oven and cover lightly with foil. Let the ribs rest for 10 minutes to preserve their juiciness
Step six: Slice ribs between each bone with a serrated knife. Serve immediately with more barbecue sauce for dipping!
