Now that we’re in the midst of hurricane season, we’re looking ahead to some big weather we might see as the season progresses.

Disney World is located in Orlando, Florida which can mean warm weather and sun — but it can also mean rain and storms like with Hurricane Elsa. The 2021 hurricane season runs from June 1st through November 30th. So, we’re taking a look at predictions and what they mean for your Disney trip.
The average number of storms each year has been increasing.
Experts are now predicting an above-average hurricane season for 2021. By the time hurricane season ends on November 30th, experts are 65% confident that this season may bring 15 to 21 named storms, which could include seven to ten hurricanes.
A Rainy Magic Kingdom
Experts are now forecasting that three to five of the 2021 hurricanes could be severe at Category 3 or higher, which means winds above 110 miles per hour. An average hurricane season has 14 named storms, which generally includes seven hurricanes, three of which are typically more severe. There is, however, a 25% chance that this hurricane season will be average.

While the recent average number of storms for a season is 14 with seven hurricanes, it used to be 12 with six hurricanes. The 2021 hurricane season could have the potential to contribute to the trend of a higher number of storms than what we could expect ten years ago.

We saw Hurricane Elsa last month, which was the fifth named hurricane for 2021. Though experts are predicting more storms, it’s likely that they won’t be as severe as the 2020 season due to cooler ocean temperatures.

How will these predictions affect your Disney trip?
Just because we saw Hurricane Elsa in Orlando last month does not mean that your Disney trip will be any more affected than usual. In fact, Orlando is often outside of storm paths or occasionally falling into the outskirts of storms.
Hurricane Over Adventureland
Still, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be prepared for a potential interruption to your Disney vacation due to a hurricane! Interestingly, Disney World is actually a very safe place to be during a hurricane since the buildings are built to withstand high winds. In the past, the resort has sustained minor damage during storms.

But the Disney parks WILL close in the instance that a big storm is headed in the direction of Orlando. So, hurricane season can definitely have an effect on the happiest place on Earth. If one of those storms happens to be a big one that swings towards Orlando, you might see the parks close during your trip.
Oh no! It’s raining in the Magic Kingdom!
Even if a storm doesn’t impact Disney World directly this year, hurricane season means BIG rain for Florida. If you do have a trip planned, make sure you gear up for rain and storms. Typically, the worst of it happens from August through September. We’re not kidding when we say we can see a storm or two almost every day!
Magic Kingdom is quiet on Monday in advance of Hurricane Dorian.

Same old, same old, this is Disney in Florida… bring a poncho
I was originally gonna go in June last year but got pushed to Christmas season last year. Glad I didn’t get to experience a bad weathered vacation and I know now that not all places have nice weather’s during the summer.
March is the best time to go. Not too hot , low humidity, smaller crowds and you most likely don’t need to carry an umbrella every day.
Or enjoy the rain and storms too. If you don’t care.💞💎👉👈♾
will be camping (tent) at the Fort wilderness in November and have reservations made for 6 days, not planning on a hurricane. thinking about bringing my amateur radio for the trip..
