Another character breakfast is BACK in Walt Disney World!
The Play ‘n Dine experience with Disney Junior characters at Hollywood & Vine in Disney’s Hollywood Studios has officially restarted today and is welcoming guests back for breakfast. We stopped by this morning to see what it’s like to be back and how it compares to the other specialty character dining experiences that Disney has hosted here for Christmas and Halloween!
Atmosphere
Like our previous experiences dining at Hollywood & Vine, there are a few adjustments to the restaurant in order to adhere to the current health and safety guidelines at Walt Disney World. You’ll find plexiglass windows around the restaurant to create barriers between guests and Cast Members and the check-in area is now located outside. They encouraged us to check-in via Mobile Dine Check-In on the My Disney Experience app, as opposed to in-person so that’s what we did!
Inside, tables are still spread out to allow for appropriate physical distancing between groups and plexiglass has been installed between booth areas. Without all the tables in the restaurant, there’s a LOT more room for characters to dance and play while they make their rounds to say hi.
When you first enter the restaurant, you can stop for a selfie in front of the retuning Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine background. In the past, you might have found a character in the area to greet you and pose for a photo op, but in the times that Hollywood & Vine has reopened for character dining, that has not returned.
Also, make note that Cast Members are not able to touch your camera to snap the picture, so be prepared to pose for selfie instead!
Characters
All of the classic Disney Junior characters are back for the Play ‘n Dine party so you can expect to meet Fancy Nancy, Vampirina, Doc McStuffins, and Roadster Goofy! While we were dining, the characters came out pretty close in timing so you never went too long without seeing someone.
And, rest assured, Goofy and Nancy are still up to their same shenanigans, doing their little parade dance around the restaurant!
A little after Nancy and Goofy stopped by, Vampirina made her way over to give us a fun little scare…
…and Doc Mcstuffins came over to see how we were enjoying our meal.
In order to maintain a distance, the characters now greet guests from a distance giving tons of waves and even some twirls (from Fancy Nancy, of course). Guests are asked to remain seated at their table as the characters make their rounds and an overhead announcement comes on throughout the meal reminding everyone of that guideline. The characters will stop at each table briefly so you can snap a distanced selfie and share some waves!

One little added bonus to the return of the Disney Junior Play ‘n Dine experience is new music! So, even if you’ve visited this character breakfast before, you might hear something new!
Food
Hollywood & Vine used to be the loving home to a buffet, but that has changed to an a la carte menu due to the new health and safety guidelines. There have been a few menu iterations as the character dining experiences have changed at this restaurant, but we’ve been pretty impressed in the past and were excited to see how this new breakfast tasted! We will be back with a full review of all of these new offerings, so stay tuned!Â
Now, guests start with a shared pastry basket that includes caramel monkey bread, butter croissants, and blueberry muffins.
And, as if a basket of bread wasn’t enough to make us happy, it’s all served with honey butter!

After devouring the pastry basket, each guest can select an entrée from a menu that includes All-you-care-to-enjoy pancakes, French toast stuffed with chocolate-hazelnut spread, a Toasted open-faced salmon bagel, a Four-egg scramble, a Four-egg cheese omelet, or a Plant-based egg frittata.
We went for the French Toast stuffed with chocolate-hazelnut spread!

The entire character breakfast experience is priced at $42 per adult, plus tax and gratuity and $27 per child (ages 3-9), plus tax and gratuity. We can’t wait to share our thoughts on the food and the experience overall. Stay tuned for our full review! 😊
