At any given time, a few Disney World rides are bound to be closed for maintenance or refurbishment.
And if you’re planning a trip to Disney World, you’re gonna want to know ALL about what will be closed! That’s why we’re keeping ya in the loop here at DFB. And today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for April 5th through 11th!
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents closes for refurb every time a new U.S. President is elected. Right now, Disney’s installing an animatronic for President Joe Biden!
The show closed in January, and Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet. We’ll keep ya posted as we learn more!

Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover
It’s a sad week for fans of the PeopleMover. The ride’s closure was extended AGAIN, just days before it was scheduled to reopen on April 4th. This Tomorrowland icon has been closed since March 2020, and we miss it so much.
We’ve seen extensive testing on the ride — and even the ramp up to the loading platform moving! — so we’re hoping things are headed in the right direction. Right now, the ride is set to reopen on May 1st, 2021. We’ll keep ya posted if that changes!

Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for what feels like FOREVER! It’s been unavailable for over 2 YEARS while construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run interferes with its normal loop around the park.
We’ll likely have to wait until some serious progress is made on TRON before the railroad reopens. And since TRON construction has likely been delayed, it could be a while! Oh, Walt Disney World Railroad, how we miss you.

Main Street Confectionery
On March 29th, Main Street Confectionery shut down for a LONG refurb. Luckily, if you’re craving cupcakes, candy, or other sweet treats, you can head over to Main Street Cinema! They’re selling all of Main Street Confectionery’s goodies throughout the closure.
Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet, but the shop will be closed through June 19th at the earliest. That’s as far as Disney currently lists its refurbishment schedule, so we could see the closure stretch even longer. We’ll let you know as we learn more!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
We’re seeing LOTS of changes at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! The main entrance and lobby are getting some general touch-ups, and a Moana-themed reimagining is underway for the guest rooms.
We got a first look into those new rooms, and they look pretty neat!
Those rooms are now accepting reservations for July 19th and beyond! We should see the rest of the refurb finish up this summer, too.
Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!
That’s all for this week’s refurbishment update! We’ll continue to keep you posted on all the latest closures in the parks. Stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!
