Disney World has been adapting its safety guidelines alongside the ongoing pandemic.
Currently, there are safety procedures in place for mask-wearing and social distancing throughout the parks. But now, an important update has been made regarding these policies.
Previously, guests were required to wear their face coverings at all times unless actively eating or drinking while stationary. However, Disney has updated this policy to allow guests to temporarily remove their masks to take pictures while outdoors. A statement on Disney’s website reflects that this change will take place beginning April 8th.
Keep in mind that you must be standing still while taking these photos, and you must maintain appropriate physical distancing from those around you. You are also unable to remove your face covering to take pictures indoors.
This comes after Disney posted new signs permitting only 4 guests per social distancing marker — but removed them shortly after. We’ll continue to update you as Disney adjusts its policies. Stay tuned to DFB!

What about memory maker photos
DFB Sarah says
Jeanette, we will need to confirm this. If appropriate distancing is maintained, it’s possible that this policy may also apply to PhotoPass, but I don’t see that language in the new policy update. We’ll check and update on the 8th.

Not even considering going until all mask crap is gone.
Might not go anyway. Disney has really done wrong on this.

I have loved the Orange Bird for as long as I can recall. Bearing in mind that I probably could not make it to Disney Springs and definitely could not make it EPCOT (my favorite park) any time in the near future, how or where can I get the Orange Bird face mask shown on this page by mail order?

It’s about freaking time.

This is great news!
JB says
Gee, thanks Disney for giving us back something that shouldn’t have been taken away in the first place. There is simply no logical reason why approved photo areas couldn’t have been roped off in the first place, just like relaxation stations. They have enough room in front of the Castle to have given 3 times the “safe” distance from other guests. When is everyone going to wake up and start realizing that this all boils down to a lack of trust that guests cannot follow rules nor make logical decisions. The majority is being punished for the ill actions of the few….but those people have always been in Disney and always will be (i.e.no flash photography on dark rides!) The idea that anyone can have complete control of human beings is merely an illusion. The happiest place on Earth is no more.

If people can distances themselves to take a picture great idea . But like everything else people take advantage of all kinds of situations . Disney needs to try to make the park more what customers need to feel more normal .
Omar says
Was thinking the same, hopefully this applies to memory maker as well!!!!
Erica says
Thank you Disney for moving forward! It puts my faith back into this company. Great decision.

my husband and me r getting vaccinated and will do whatever Disney says to do so they don’t have to close down like Disneyland we love Disney world and coming again n December with my sister who lives there so it will b fun can’t wait to c Mickey

Agree with JB on this; I sent Disney World several email about how they could do pictures–at a distance–roped off, etc. I understand some of the things Disney had to do, but the combative nature they put the employees in, the long waits (when we were there), etc. just made it no fun.

I thought we were following the science. Herd immunity means no more masks and distancing???
Dave says
Disney has stripped all the magic from the parks . They do realize they’re outside!!! Sad!! It will be very hard to return and financially support them again.
Jonathan Maurer says
Cedar fair.. one of the largest amusement park group is allowing no masks for outdoor rides.. no mandates except indoors .. with Fla lifting all mask mandates and 100% capacity indoor and outdoor events .. won’t Disney follow suit in 2021 at some point ?
Mr . JOHN says
Disney has a law suit Disney Cruise Line had people sail the cruise right before the pandemic and would not canceled . People got sick from the virus know people are sueing Disney .So I would think it is safe to say they do not need a million s of dollars problems . They have to be very careful in what they are doing because everyone wants to die disney.
Susan Easterday says
I will also note that Holiday World, a local (but large) them and water park in Indiana had no masks outside all last year starting in May with no issues. I hate to say it, but I think Disney’s politics keep them at odds with the rest of Florida. It’s been long proven that there are no issues outside. Herd immunity and vaccines mean nothing when your ideology aligns in another way. I just don’t think Disney World is using common sense related to outdoor masking.
