EPCOT is in the midst of a MAJOR transformation!

New attractions like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind are in progress. Plus much of the park is getting a new look. We’re especially excited to see Harmonious, the new nighttime spectacular — but we can’t say we’re happy about how those massive barges look in the water… .Â
Over the last few months, Disney has been slowly but surely adding new, permanent fixtures to World Showcase Lagoon. The Harmonious barges will anchor the nighttime show in the evening and serve as a massive fountain feature during the day. As for right now though? No shade…but they aren’t cute.

Yup, our beautiful view across World Showcase has been obstructed by these big ol’ flats. Today, the final barge was installed! On the one hand, we’re excited that this means we’re one step closer to the new show. On the other? Wow, do they look ugly or what?

We’ll be keeping an eye out for more changes to the features on World Showcase Lagoon. Maybe we’ll get to see what that fountain will really look like soon! As always, stay tuned to DFB for the latest updates!

Ugly. DEFINITELY ugly!
Yikes. Will these barges be permanent obstructions in the World Showcase Lagoon? That seems unwise. One of the really nice things about the previous nighttime show was how the elements in the water would float out into place for the show and then disappear afterwards.
I remember the old days when Disney actually gave a crap about aesthetics. IE: Morocco buildings being the same color as the ToT so as not to detract.
Now they are throwing up ugly structures everywhere without regard to how they affect the scenery or dispute what anyone thinks.
Nicole, yes, they’re expected to remain on World Showcase Lagoon and to serve as fountains during the day. We’ll keep an eye on this.
You are absolutely right! “Our beautiful view across World Showcase has been obstructed by these big ol’ flats . . . do they look ugly or what?” This is so sad. There was a time when the World Showcase skyline was a work of art. Nobody seems to care about that any more.
These really do look massively ugly. 😬 I love world showcase because the aesthetics are just so picturesque and u can really get lost in the idea of ‘World Travel’. However, the barges really put a humongous damper on that.
