BIG changes are coming to Magic Kingdom for Disney World’s 50th anniversary!
We’ve told you all about the transformations coming to Disney World’s park icons — including Cinderella Castle! And while the big birthday is still quite a few months away, we’ve already seen that makeover begin. We’ve been following the progress as fancy draperies and golden swirls were added…and now, there are more additions!
Last we checked in with ya, those golden swirls had all been added to the castle. Can you see what’s new now?
Check out those ornaments strung around the turrets. They match the royal blue we’re seeing on the rest of the castle, and they’re lookin’ good! Well…except for the fact that they kinda remind us of a Christmas tree. Anyone else?! As pretty as they are, the castle is literally draped in ornaments now. And we don’t know how to feel about it.
But let’s zoom out and look big-picture. We’ve gotta say, this transformation is all coming together! We can’t wait to see the makeover when it’s complete.
We’ll keep checking in with you as progress continues. Cinderella Castle looks pretty snazzy now, right? Let us know if you’re a fan of the new look, and stay tuned to DFB for more Disney news!

Looks like Coco Chanel wasn’t consulted on the castle decoration. She was the one who said “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and take at least one thing off.” They need to take one thing off of the castle. Or maybe a lot of one things.

I am such a fan of all things Disney but I have to say that I think the castle transformation is not an improvement. I thought the original was classic and timeless. The new look is gaudy. Too much going on.

I like it for the 50th birthday, but I really want it to go back to it’s original look afterwards. I like the wedge wood blue with the gray stone work.

I like something different for the party. Makes visits during this time special. But after the party, I bet they tone things down a bit.
Mellisa says
I like the classic look but compared to what they did to it for the 25th birthday this one is soooo much better.
Dee Dee Philipson says
Does anyone remember the 25th anniversary castle? Compared to the cake/candy theme of that, this is nice.
Debbie says
I think it looks great and can’t wait to get a picture in front of it
Todd says
Nobody should complain. Anyone who witnessed the 25th anniversary will understand. Just take a look back at that and be grateful for this one!

I love it! So much better than the 25th birthday cake castle! Our children were horrified when they saw that. We are making a special trip just to have photos of the 50th – with kids and their kids. Gaudy? Yes. Over the top, yes. But 50 years people! I think it deserves the glitter!

I like the castle the way it was. It looks gaudy and those big gold ribbon things just look so out of place . There is such a thing as over-doing and the castle looks over-done.
Helen says
I think the castle is more beautiful than before.
When you painted it pink that was awful.
