The Disney parks are a place of constant change!
Things are consistently evolving and updating to keep up with the times, whether it’s the technology used or the rules in place. This week, policies were changed for Cast Members regarding the Disney dress code, and today we spotted those changes in effect in the parks!
While we were getting on the Skyliner in Disney World today, we were assisted by Camilo from Puerto Rico. And while we were speaking to Camilo, we noticed something…
…Camilo is sporting visible tattoos! Previously, Cast Members were not allowed to have their tattoos showing, and were required to cover them up while at work. With the changes to the dress code, they’re now free to show tattoos that are deemed “appropriate.”
In addition to allowing tattoos, the new rules state that Cast Members have “greater flexibility with respect to forms of personal expression surrounding gender-inclusive hairstyles, jewelry, nail styles, and costume choices.”
We’ll be looking out for Cast Members sporting these changes in the parks, and we’ll make sure to keep you updated with any more details! Stay tuned to DFB for all the latest Disney news!

Disappointing. I have no problem with tattoos in real life. I have one but this just a ruins the magic
Tracy says
I think this is a welcome and reasonable change!
Patty says
I agree with Tracy – I love this change too!
Phoebe Mills says
This absolutely destroys the magic. So disappointing.
Emily says
How does it destroy the magic?
Lisa says
Tattoos and personal choice doesn’t ruin the magic of Disney. It’s a personal choice to enjoy with your family instead of complaining. Disney finally does something right.

I can see pros and cons to this change. I believe that you have the right to do what you want with your body when you are an adult. However, I am less likely to ask for help from someone covered in tattoos on Disney property. It doesn’t seem the place to expose young children to permanently altering your body. Then again, you have adults that are looking for inspiration for themselves.

I got a tattoo when I turned 18. At that time I had no idea what I would be doing for a profession. My profession does not agree with visible tattoos piercings or nontraditional hair styles. I believe if you choice a profession then you follow those rules. Part of the magic is the appearance.
I am not in favor of the new changes. In fact not liking a lot of what the new WDW CEO is doing.
WDW used to set the bar now they are looking more like everyone else.

You have a choice not to visit if something a wonderful as Disney being inclusive bothers you. More room for the open-minded! That’s actually the world Walt Disney created. This change continues to show his magic. To not talk to someone on Disney property if they have tattoos? What if Disney resorts prevented people who had tattoos from entering? There would be about 23 people allowed in.
Molly says
I was at WDW last week and saw 3 cast members with tattoos. I thought it was great! That didn’t destroy the magic for me. I loved it!
Joseph says
Disney World is again doing something that Walt Disney would definitely would not approve of, it does destroy the Magic. Just like allowing alcohol in the Magic Kingdom.
John Herman says
Disney is a job not paying a lot of money to tell people how to look like it is on there own body. If I needed help I would not care if the person had a tattoo or hair purple.. If they are professional and care about there job. and did a great job everyday . Do not judge people from the out side God would want people to care about there souls ,kindness . Tattoos are not new it is going on for years . If you are judging ,judge your self be kind to everyone . I am 60 I was took to judge your self not others .
Sandy says
Walt knew what he was doing. He gave us these wonderful places to enjoy with our families, with his rules. His rules should be used!
This is Disneyland and Disney World, not a little carnival!!!
Walt knew more than the people who are ruining his DREAM now!!
Walt knew better!
