I stayed in a standard view room in 2007. I agree about the distance to the parks, but we very much enjoyed the hotel. I am planning an 8-night stay in November of 2021 in a standard view roomn, and I appreciate the tip about obstructed view rooms.
From what I am reading about the various reopenings, guests at deluxe hotels will have special after hours in the parks and will have first access to the tickets for the Christmas special event at Magic Kingdom. This seems to be an advantage of staying in a deluxe resort – even in a standard view room – that is worth mentioning.
Just one other comment. The video repeatedly says that savanna-view rooms are only about $100 more per night than standard view rooms. I priced both for my trip in Novembe 2021, and the difference in the nightly rate is about $200.
