This summer, Disney Cruise Line is set to resume sailing with new Disney Magic at Sea staycation cruises, available exclusively for UK residents.
With these new staycation offerings guests from the UK can set sail for 2, 3, or 4-night adventures. And, as the name “staycation” suggests, guests will stay onboard the Disney Magic throughout the cruise, rather than stopping at ports of call.
Booking for these staycations is set to open April 28th for Golden Oak Club Members, April 29th for Disney Vacation Club Members and Adventures by Disney Insiders, and April 30th for the general public.
Ahead of these booking dates, Disney has released futher information about the health and safety measures that will be in place aboard the ship, as well as guest requirements. Changes onboard the ship will include enhanced cleaning procedures, modified housekeeping, and new air purification systems.
There are also several important updates for guests, including the requirement that all guests 18 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the National Health Service (NHS). Disney Cruise Line will contact guests prior to sailing with instructions on how to show proof of their vaccination status.
Guests under 18 are not required to be vaccinated, but must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken between 5 days and 24 hours prior to the sail date.
In addition, all guests, including those who have been vaccinated, are required to undergo an antigen COVID-19 rapid test in the terminal prior to boarding. Anyone testing positive will undergo a second test to verify the results, and those with positive test results, as well as everyone in their travel party, will be denied boarding.
In addition, a number of other health and safety measures will be implemented onboard, including required face coverings for all Crew Members and guests age 11 and up, reduced capacity, and physical distancing requirements.
We’ll be on the lookout for any additional information about the upcoming UK staycation sailings, so stay tuned for all of the latest updates.

Rachel says
We’ve been on six Disney cruises over the years, but will never go again with these idiotic requirements. I vote with my wallet….
Beth Bowers says
And I, on the other hand, am thrilled with this requirement.
Sarah says
How an earth can any family in the UK go on this as most adults will be in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s wanting to take their children. In the UK only people over 50 have been offered the vaccine. I will not be able to take my son now 🙁
Teressa says
We love Disney Cruise… but our family of 55+ ( that’s how many of us went on our last cruise) won’t be traveling with them anymore… sorry. Not worth it.
Lorenzo says
lol, you have to be vaccinated, take a test, wear a mask, keep 6 feet apart, AND the capacity is reduced. If the situation is as dire as they’re leading people to believe with these crazy requirements then they shouldn’t be cruising.
But it’s not. They’re just not going to take a stand against all of this nonsense. Therein lies the problem, it’s always little guys taking the stand against it, never the giant companies that would actually make a difference.
I’m never going on a cruise that requires a mask. I’m never going on a cruise that is sailing at reduced capacity. I’m never going on a cruise that requires testing. And I’m absolutely never going anywhere that requires I show that I’ve been vaccinated. I’m never going on a cruise that’s afraid to cruise, thanks but no thanks.

Was going to book a cruise for next year but not if we have to have a:
Certificate

Vaccination

I’ve been on 15 cruises since 2012. I guess my family and I will not being going on anymore dcl. So much for our 125% credit.
Jules says
Well, somehow I think there will be plenty of people who will be appreciative of the health and safety requirements DCL is putting in place and will gladly sail with them because of it. So I’m guessing the cruise line will survive just fine. And I’m guessing other lines will decide to cater to the anti-mask, anti-vaxx and anti-test crowd, and they’ll probably survive as well. I love cruising and hope to sail again, and I’ll be booking on a line with health and safety precautions in place. I actually love that those who oppose them will sail elsewhere.
D says
Looks like my family and I will not be cruising with disney!! If
you are vaccinated, my not being should not effect you!!! If Disney requires a vaccine to visit the parks I will sadly be saying goodbye to DVC…..
Rich says
Ready to go, as long as Canadian government let’s us sail in from NJ/NY, not sure how DisneyVC will figure out points if not after 2 years nit sailing and the bonus points and credits issued.
Gnomester210 says
Excellent work DCL! Thank you for being the responsible company you have always been. Now the grown-ups who take science and safety seriously can cruise without worry about those who don’t. Can’t wait to get on board again!
Heidi says
I agree with you Lorenzo!! Hey Disney, I grew up with you…my mom even met Walt…. But let me give you this food for thought!! There are people out there, like myself who has a severe reaction to the vaccine….and WILL NOT be fully vaccinated. This is a horrible mandation…but you know..we do not have to cruise…and e e do nit have to keep making you richer.
Gena says
Ditto what Lorenzo said!!
Jay says
So me and my extended family were going to book a Disney cruise. (15 people total) Not anymore and never again with this requirement! Goodbye Disney, you lost at least 30% of the population!
joey says
It seems like any magic that existed before covid with DCL is going to be lost with new rules that takes the magic away. Some of you seem to think your mask, vaccine and testing is going to allow you the same level of magic before the pandemic. Don’t be too sure of yourselves. If Disney is being this careful, I believe the cruises are going to be a lot more similar to lesser cost cruise lines in the lack of magic. I don’t see dining, entertainment or even character interaction ever being the same again. You can look down upon everyone who doesn’t agree with you and claim you are superior and more educated because science guides your life, but it will also change how the cruise line does business. Covid changed everything and your superior attitude is going to take a beating when you see the changes they have in store. It is amazing how hateful some of you come off and life will humble that attitude in time.
joey says
Ditto what Gena said!
Angela says
Norwegian is doing the similar requirements. You want to cruse right now not risk an the whole trip getting shut down, this is what we need to do. I’m vaccinated I wouldn’t do a land vacation to another state without it. We’re booked the Norwegian Joy for in Oct for Caribbean cruise . With a mask I don’t need sunscreen on my face.
WADE says
Great news and well-done Disney. If you have ever travelled outside the country to places like Brazil, Africa, India, there is a list of vaccines that you need like Hepatitis A & B, Yellow Fever, Typhoid, as well as all the standard vaccines like Polio, Measels, etc. You do not want to mess around with not getting these. So, what’s the big deal with one more vaccine that can prevent death? So, while I don’t live in the UK, I do look forward to a Disney cruise in the future knowing my travel mates are all vaccinated. Thank you Disney.
Bethany says
Sorry, Disney, I don’t love you enough to turn myself into a human guinea pig. My health and medical freedom are far more valuable. I adore Disney and come from a Disney-loving family, but I’m happy to spend my money with businesses and companies that respect people’s right to informed consent.
Leo says
Well, I join the ones that am MORE likely to go on a cruise with those requirements. Especially since those (add many expletives here) who refuse to be vaccinated won’t be there.
Amy says
With regard to citizens of the UK and the staycation cruises they are offering to them, there is no way I would pay the big cruise $$$ to spend two or three days circling around the ocean with no ports of call. And what kind of onboard fun could you possibly have with physical distance requirements, no meet and greets, no fireworks, probably no shows, etc.
K says
Thank you so much for keeping us all updated on everything. Love your emails and all the info!!!
Jack says
Those requirements are crazy and unnecessary. Mask should be optional.
Elizabeth West says
Being a healthcare worker and having a son that is an ER physician I think that vaccine verification is the way to go. You can test negative for COVID one day and start with the virus the next day. Healthcare workers , in the beginning , were tested daily for the virus. The only sure way is to have both vaccines and then wait at least 10 days to make sure you did not become infected in the interim of the vaccines. I would not board a ship unless all passengers were vaccinated and their vaccination record officially verified. Passengers who are not vaccinated could have a negative COVID test at port and then manifest symptoms and test positive after leaving port . They could become ill at sea. This is a novel virus ,we don’ t know a lot about it. Scientist know that it mutates and with the mutation comes the possibility of a more potent strain as seen in the variant that hit South Africa ( scientist are not certain that the present vaccine is as effective on this variant of the COVID ) . I would hate to see any potent mutations of SARs2 – COVID -19 come to pass .
Dan R says
I’m in my early 40’s and have had my first vaccine so I should have my 2nd one by the time this cruise sails. It’s not the fully-vaccinated, have to take a test (although that in itself seems pretty OTT) and all the onboard requirement that are making me doubtful for this, but more my overall fear of what we will be charged for the privilege of what will essentially amount to a day and a half on the ship with limited experiences and social distancing. I’m still expecting DCL to charge £1K a night for this
Whatever says
Well then why don’t they test for AIDS, measles , mumps, polio, typhoid , tuberculosis and every other disease and illness on the face of the earth….. ridiculous
Jules says
In response to Joey, having to be quarantined inside a cabin at sea because there has been an outbreak of Covid would not be my idea of magical. YMMV. Thanks for wishing bad karma on those of us who choose to follow science and public health guidelines, though. That’s not so magical either, for someone who is worried about magic. I don’t wish that you would get Covid because you don’t follow those guidelines. It makes me chuckle when people talk about any new WDW, DL or DCL rule or policy that they personally don’t like as “ruining the magic.” If people don’t like the rule or policy, they can seek out a destination or cruise line that has policies they agree with. I’ve said this before about theme park trips, and it applies to cruises too: None of us has a right to these experiences on our own terms. If anyone doesn’t like the terms offered, they have the right to find another experience with ones they do like. That was true before Covid, and it will be true after the pandemic is over as well.
Freedom for All says
I’m not sure if people realize the seriousness of this debate. This is not simply a debate about vacations and company policies. People who’s rights are threatened will instinctively have a fight or flight response to this type of tyranny. When I use the word ‘rights’, please translate that as ‘safety’. While some fear Covid and see the vaccine as their safety blanket, they have as much freedom to get it as their ‘government will allow’, given the priority/rollout procedures. Others on the other hand believe the vaccine is not safe and therefore any restrictions against them based on their non-vaccinated status is a threat to their freedom. What does the public think is going to happen when their rights are attacked? If we don’t have freedom and safety for all, we don’t have freedom and safety for anyone. Go get your vaccine so you can feel safe and then take a stand for others so they can experience the same peace of mind you experienced. Please do not force people to fight for it. Everyone wants peace. The threatened may very well ‘flight’, but only until there’s nowhere else to go.
Cat lady says
I have read all your comments and EVERYONE has the right to make their own choice – nobody is making you go…
I personally feel very reassured by these new requirements. As a UK resident this will be the only way for us to get any Disney Magic this year (or last). True, it may or may not be the same magic as it was two years ago, but, the whole world I not the same as it was two years ago either.
I am so looking forward to my staycation cruise in the Summer and have taken the view that what’s a little inconvenience when so, so many people have really suffered. I say THANK YOU DISNEY for bringing a little bit of normalcy and happiness back .
