We are halfway to Halloween and have just received some HUGE Disney Halloween news!
Last year, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and we’ve wondered for months whether it would return this year. And now we’ve got our answer!
Earlier today, Disney announced a NEW Halloween-themed after hours event that will take the place of Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year!! The new event is called “Disney After Hours BOO BASH.“
The 3-hour event will take place at Magic Kingdom park. According to Disney, the event will feature party music, Halloween decorations, Disney attractions, and “oh-so-eerie entertainment.”
There will also be Halloween-themed cavalcades and candy stops throughout the park. Spooktacular characters like Dr. Facilier and Captain Barbosa will make an appearance in the park, and classic characters like Goofy and Chip ‘n’ Dale will also be around.
The Cadaver Dans will also perform during the After Hours event. Guests can look forward to enjoying a number of “themed offerings, from sweet treats to savory delights.” And more than 20 rides will also be open for guests to enjoy including the Haunted Mansion, Space Mountain, and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
And, according to Disney, “Guests young, old and immortal can don a costume for the occasion.” Just be sure to review Disney’s dress code and costume guidelines before attending.
Disney After Hours BOO BASH will take place on select nights from August 10th through October 31st.
Tickets for this event will go on sale NEXT MONTH. There will, however, be an early purchase window available for guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels.
According to Disney, “Disney After Hours BOO BASH tickets will grant admission to Magic Kingdom park as early as 7:00 PM without the need for a day park ticket or Disney Park Pass theme park reservation.”
The event will technically begin, however, at 9PM and will last from 9PM to midnight each night it is offered. Some event nights in August and September will actually be from 9:30PM to 12:30AM.

I wonder if this will be an Initial change from MNSSHP, or they are just changing it for this year?! So many questions!! All in all, I am so excited to be visiting this October and blessed we still get a little spooky celebration of some sort!
brandon says
I guess the reason they changed the name is because people are gonna keep saying “Booooooo!” To Disney. And they are just owning this reality.
🤣🤣🤣
I for one absolutely cannot stand these short 3 hour after hours event. MOSTLY because they cost the same as a Full day ticket. Which is 100% ridiculous.
And anyone who uses the argument that you can get on rides with no waits. My response is “Bull Crap”
At 2020 Villains after Hours. Waits times on some rides were as high as 45 mins.
On a normal day that’s fine. But when there’s only 3 hours that is outrageous.
Andrea says
When or how do we find out if the “select” resort guests that are getting early purchase is one of the ones we’re staying at? (We’re a split stay, end of October.)
Mickey says
Is this celebration just for this year or is it replacing MNSSHP permanently? Do you know what they’re doing for Christmas?
Doug says
I see no mention of cost $$$$$$. Another shocker when the time comes
Roz says
Yah Yah yah. So excited !! Can’t wait !! Thank U for the information
JL says
Could you please explain the difference between Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween and Boo Bash?
Anthony Carfora says
I know everyone was anxious for Disney to bring back Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. But sorry to say this Boo Bash leaves out the little people that Halloween is supposed to be for. The 9PM start time will be a problem for parents with the kiddos. In years past the 4 pm entry time at least allowed younger kids to enjoy the event. The 7 pm entry with festivities starting at 9 pm is just to late.
George says
Are the PC police getting rid of Halloween 🎃 ?
Vincent Maccarone says
HI I would just like to reply to the Micky’s not so scary Halloween party My wife and I are big Disney Fans and we attended the party twice. That being said we will never waste our money again on this event. first we paid $100.00 per ticket and there were people still in the park without a ticket band for the event. I asked a cast member how they were able to be in the park without a wrist band and was told they couldn’t rid the rides without a wrist band. But when it was time for he parade these people were lined up in front of main street and people that paid for the special event were stuck in the back. Disney needs to come up with a better way to hold these events were the people that pay to be there get what they payed for. If you don’t have a paid band you should be escorted out of the park.
Kate says
I can’t see a difference between this and the regular Halloween Party. Sounds fun!
Lysle says
So they are returning it, but for the most part, it’s the same. Okay.
Ken says
Sounds ok but the price is what scares me. 3 hours of waiting in line to get on 3-4 5 attractions could price this one out of reach for many. Cautiously optimistic but not hopeful.
Essie says
I hope this is just for 2021 and not meant to actually replace the iconic MNSSHP.
DanielleV says
Thank goodness! Hopefully they will bring back the Christmas party
DFB Sarah says
Essie, the Disney Parks Blog announcement didn’t specify either way, so we’ll have to see how it unfolds.
DFB Sarah says
George, it doesn’t appear so. The BOO BASH is a Halloween event.
DFB Sarah says
JL, we explained the differences here.
DFB Sarah says
Mickey, Disney hasn’t specified on either question. We will update when they do.
DFB Sarah says
Andrea, we won’t know until Disney releases the information. They’ve said tickets go on sale in June, so we’ll update as soon as they release the info.
Dee says
Will this happen at the resort in California as well or just WDW
DFB Sarah says
Dee, just the World.
Mitch says
This is outrageous! The fact that they have changed everything to be politically correct is disgusting. Three hours, seriously? That leaves Time for maybe 2 to 3 rides at most. And then charging full admission price on top of it?! Disney – you’re like California and you have lost your ever loving mind!
