You may have thought Disney World looked totally different compared to your last trip a month ago, but more changes have continued to be made at the the parks that may make your next trip very different.
In many ways, several things have gone back to “normal” over the past few months. We’ve seen reduced distancing measures, the removal of temperature checks, and disappearing hand-washing stations. But, one of the things that has seen quite a few changes is Disney World’s mask policy. Previously, But, masks were not required in most areas of Disney World, but mask rules have since changed. Since there are certain circumstances where guests MUST wear masks, there’s one accessory that could really come in handy!
Under Disney World’s current face mask policies, face masks are required for all guests ages 2 and up (regardless of vaccination status) upon entering and throughout all attractions, in all indoor theaters (including theater entrances), in all transportation except ferry boats (including transportation entrances), and in all indoor locations (including restaurants, except when actively eating or drinking while stationary).
At outdoor common areas and pool decks, face masks are optional for guests, regardless of their vaccination status. So, that means visitors will still need to bring masks with them and will basically have moments where they continue to take them on and off throughout the day. Instead of trying to fish around in your park bag for your face mask or risk losing it by toting it around, you might want to opt for a face mask chain!
These accessories could easily become your new best friends since all you have to do is hook the chains to either side of your masks for a secure hold. When you take your mask off, it can just hang around your neck (kind of like a necklace) so you don’t lose it before you put it back on! There are all sorts of designs available, including a regular chain…
…a corded kind…
…or even a beaded version! You can mix and match depending on your outfit for a stylish look AND a great accessory to keep your mask handy and secure.
We’ve even found face mask chains in Disney World at the House of Good Fortune in EPCOT’s China Pavilion. The accessories there come in a variety of bright colors, like teal and pink, for $6.95 each. While this is the only spot we’ve found them in Disney World recently, face mask chains might begin to be supplied elsewhere.
We also recommend bringing extra face masks with you in your bag as well! Sometimes accidents happen, and you could drop your face mask while you’re eating or see it accidentally fall out of your bag. So, it’s helpful to have extra masks ready to go for the situations you do need to be wearing them, on top of using a face mask chain!
As Disney World continues to make modifications to its health and safety measures moving forward, we’ll be sure to update you on everything you need to know before you head to the parks. In the meantime, stay tuned with DFB for the latest Disney news!

For a change, I was ahead of the curve. I purchased the mask holders that are shown above, the multicolored ones from Amazon, as a surprise for my friends and family for our trip two weeks ago. Everyone picked out their favorite colors and we knew at a glance whose mask was whose.
Another member of our group also surprised us with mask holders, just not the same type. Theirs had a better hook attachment. Mine was a tad difficult to attach to the mask, but once it was on, it stayed on.
The mask holders proved invaluable as they made for easy on, easy off, without misplacing or forgetting it. The mask was always around our neck (except at the pool). The holders are good at home too because when you leave the grocery store, you take off your mask and there it is – hanging around your neck. Not on the ground and not left behind in your car.

Bought the corded mask holders a few months ago. They are very handy. Sent some to my aunt and uncle who are in their 80s and they love them. Have also shared with friends. Will be bringing these to Disney with our one ply masks in July. We have been vaccinated so the N95 and masks with interfacing are not needed A simple light weight cotton will cover our faces per the guidelines. We do not need a mask but we will follow the wishes of Disney.
