We’ve been closely following the progress on the Brightline train in Florida!
The train will directly transport guests from the Orlando International Airport to a stop in Disney Springs, which will be super helpful when the Magical Express service is discontinued in January 2022. While the train’s Disney Springs stop was originally due to open in 2023, it has been delayed to 2026. But now, construction has reached a BIG milestone!
Construction on the Brightline train’s line from Miami to the Orlando International Airport has officially passed the halfway point! Officials marked the milestone today, according to a tweet by Fox 35.

So those arriving by plane will be on their own for FOUR years when it comes to transportation to/from Disney. Way to look out for your loyal customers, Disney (vis-a-vis the cancellation of the Magical Express(

Unfortunately, there does not seem to be any information available about the Disney Springs stop, location, and logistics. Very worried bout this being cost and time effective for guests.

So how will a family with their luggage get to their resort from Disney Springs
Bob says
As a traveler from outside of Florida, I will not take the Brightline Train to Disney World from the airport. First, the train will not go to the Disney World Transportation Center nor any of the hotels or resorts. I will only go to Disney Springs which will significantly add to the trip. Their is also a major issue of luggage and travel scheduling. Trains do not run every hour.
Disney needs to bring back the Magical Express Bus Service including the special luggage tags and handling service and airline check-in program at the resorts.
All other resorts and hotels in the Orlando area provide transportation and luggage service from the airport. It appears Disney World can no longer provide this critical service for the vacationing public. Vacationers will find other ways to get to Disney World, but once they evaluate the total cost of a Disney World vacation, they will go elsewhere for their vacations.
Disney will loose both customers and revenues.
Kimberly says
Meh. I don’t think I’d use the train. You’d pack into the train then get off at Disney Springs then have to switch transportation to your hotel. I’d just hire a car service and be done with it.
Doug says
How much added cost will be involved with the train over Magic Express ?
Franklin Haney says
Briteline is pointless. Disney never thought this through. Getting your baggage on Briteline first of all, and than the price, Suggested to be around $50.00 per person each way. So for a family of 4 that is an additional $400.00 to your vacation price.
Now lets ask what happens once you get to Disney Springs. 1st the arrival platform will be on the oppisite side of the Freeway. So either a sky bridge will need to be added over the Freeway or some other type of transportation from the platform.
As it stands now you are not allowed to bring baggage on the Disney Resort Bus. So now that you are at Disney Springs with your two children and all your baggage, how do you get to your Hotel. Oh yes I am sure that Disney will have some expensive taxi, Minnie Cab or other costly transportation.
So what is the answer…Rent a car at the Airport…Yep than pay $25.00 a night to park your rental at your already over priced hotel. ($25.00 is the low end, IE value resorts). Get an Uber, NOt with 4 people and your luggage unless you can arrange for a SUV or Van. (at a higher rate)
Thank God for Mears, Mears will still be offering Bus service from the Airport to YOUR HOTEL and back to the AIRPORT, just like the Magical Express, Of course Mears is charging a fee. BUt I would have been happy to pay that fee even if Disney had kept the Mears contract (and the luggage pick up)
Disney is all about finding every way they can to make up for all the lost ervenue due to covid, Along the way they are also distencing what used to be loyal Disney Guests who are now rethinking vacations and staying at a Disney Resort. The low end ALL STAR RESORTS run $212.00 a night.
The Orlando Hyatt and Orlando Hilton run $89.00 to $125.00 a night, Airport Pick up and drop off, shuttle to Disney, Sea World Universal, THey have pools, internet, Complamentry Breakfast.
Disney is doing all it can to make the Magic unaffordable to most average working class folks.
Mr . JOHN says
The train s good for people that are going Disney Springs of Palm beach and further down the coast . Disney needs to give all of us the Magical bus . Wait In till vacationers have to put out a lot of money to get to there resorts and other locations . A lot of old people are not happy might not going to disney any more .Disney is telling all of us that they do not care abouus us .
DFB Sarah says
John, still waiting on details on how Disney would handle this or if any service would be offered.
R Tomas says
Try renting a home with everything pool car or van Three miles from Disney. For 200 per nite.
Lori says
Can you get a train from the Amtrak station to Disney? It seems strange that you can’t since there is some kind of commuter service there.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Lori! Unfortunately you can’t take a train directly from the Amtrak station to Disney, but the closest station to Disney World is Kissimmee on the Silver Meteor and Silver Star routes, which is only about a 22-minute car ride away from one of the Disney World main entrances (the station is also near Disney Springs).
