Going to Disney World requires quite a bit of planning. That means knowing where you’re staying, how long you’ll be there, and for many of us, where you want to eat! And we always stress the importance of planning ahead when it comes to food, which means making Advance Dining Reservations for those restaurants that are on your must-do lists!
And here’s the deal — you’ll need to make some of those reservations, particularly the hard-to-get ones, 60 days out! But that gives you nearly two months before those reservations, meaning that your plans might change. Well, what do you do then?
Here are the easiest ways to modify your Disney World dining reservation!
Online
The easiest way to modify your dining reservation is to go into your Disney World account from the Disney World website and click on “My Plans.” Then scroll down to the dining reservation you want to change under “My Plans, Reservations and Tickets.” You’ll see a button that says “Change Reservation” — click on that. You’ll get this screen:
Here, you can change the date, the time, and your party size. Once you’ve made your adjustments here, click on “Search.” We changed our party size from 2 to 1 to see what was available. The next screen either tells you if a table is available for your selected date (and sometimes, it will say it’s not) or gives you the times available for your party size. Here, there were multiple times available on the same day for lunch.
If you find a time that’s suitable for your modified reservation, click on it. Otherwise, you can go back to change the date, time, and party size to find something else. When everything is as you want it, click on the green “Change” button at the bottom of the screen.
And that’s it! You just modified your reservation! SUCCESS!
Note that this is the best way to modify your reservations if you’re making changes at least 24 hours before your original reservation.
Using the My Disney Experience App
You can also modify your reservation in the same way through the My Disney Experience app on your phone! Just open the app and click on the three lines in the bottom right-hand corner of the app.
On the next screen, click on “Future Plans.”
This will bring up all your plans, including your dining reservations. Click on the dining reservation you wish to modify or cancel.
The next screen will allow you to Cancel the Dining Reservation. Or click on “Modify.” We chose to modify, so we clicked on that.
Here you’ll get the Modify Reservation screen. You can change your party size, the date, and select a new time from here. Change what you need…
…and the app will show you some new details. We changed our party size from 2 to 4 this time. Then we selected the available time of 1:20PM.
Review your reservation. If everything is correct, click on “Book Now” at the bottom of the screen.”
And voila! Your reservation has been changed! Ours now says 4 people, instead of 2.
It seems like a lot of steps, but we promise — it’s really easy! This is another super-easy way to modify reservations, as long as you’re doing so 24 hours in advance of your initial reservation.
By Calling Disney World Directly
The other way to change your dining reservations is to give Disney a call at 407-WDW-DINE and a Cast Member will do their best to try to accommodate any changes you need. This is especially helpful if you don’t have access to the Disney World website or app or need to ask specific questions about your reservation. This is also the best option if you need to change or cancel a reservation within 24 hours of your original plan.
But, sometimes there can be LONG phone wait times. So you may want to go to the front desk at your hotel or to Guest Relations if you need to make last-minute changes to a reservation.
All of these ways are super easy, and you’ll have your reservations modified in no time! And of course, we’re here to answer any questions you might have if you need us!

What is the quickest way to find out if and or when, they change the “60 days out”, rule for siding reservations?…. We r less than 180 days till our trip and I don’t want to miss a window
DFB Sarah says
Linda, typically Disney Parks Blog will be the first place info about major policy changes/introductions would appear. And we would have that info up within minutes, so if you use social media, you might want to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram.

Can you modify an ADR same day without penalty? I know with a straight cancellation or no show you’ll be charged. I want to do Beaches & Cream the day we get into Orlando but I’m nervous about the possibility of a flight delay and then subsequently being charged if I can’t modify it to another time during our trip.
DFB Gigi says
Hi Catherine,
In my experience, I have been able to modify my same-day dining reservation to a different day if I knew I wasn’t going to make it. In one instance I was cutting it close, but I just called Disney World Dining and they set it up for me with no penalty. If you explain your situation and the flight delay, they will most likely work with you. If at all possible, you might want to go ahead and move it -just in case- unless it’s already a late reservation. Have a great time on your trip!
Pete says
I was able to modify same day reservations easily by talking to the restaurant directly the day of the reservation. Once the day starts, the restaurants get a dump of the reservations made and then the restaurant can make some changes of their own.
Dottyanna says
Great idea, Pete. How do you get the direct phone number for the restaurant?
Thanks!
