Even though it’s not opening until next year, we’re getting excited for Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser!
This “hotel” is actually more of a 2-night experience, and it will throw guests straight into the middle of their very own Star Wars adventure. There will be cool restaurants, a lightsaber training experience, and SO much more. And it all sounds like a ton of fun!
But while this may be a Star Wars fan’s dream come true, it’s NOT for everyone. For starters, the 2 nights you’re onboard the Halcyon (that’s the fancy ship you’ll be staying on) are generally dedicated exclusively to Star Wars activities onboard. Although there will be an escape to Hollywood Studios.
Of course, we wanted to figure out exactly WHO would be willing to splurge for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. So we did what we do best here at DFB: asked our readers on Instagram! At the time we conducted the poll, Disney hadn’t yet shared any sample pricing details, but our readers did expect that the Star Wars hotel would be QUITE PRICY!
Here’s what you said when asked if you planned on staying at Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser:
That’s right: over half of our readers said they didn’t plan on staying at Galactic Starcruiser when it opens! Now, this could have a lot to do with the restricted activities and suspected priciness…or maybe this experience is better suited for MEGA Star Wars fans. Either way, it doesn’t look like a TON of people will be itching to stay here!
Now, this could work out in Disney’s favor. Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser is a bit on the small side for a Disney hotel, and the website notes it is home to 100 guest rooms, so it likely won’t have the same type of availability as other resorts. And even with 58% of our readers saying they’d pass on a visit here, we’re guessing this hotel will book FAST.
As we mentioned, our Instagram poll above was conducted before Disney released sample pricing details. Disney has now shared some sample pricing details. And, just as our readers guessed, it’s pretty PRICEY. Note that the actual price of your trip will depend on your departure date, the number of guests in your cabin, and the type of cabin you choose.
The rates for a simple standard cabin for departure dates most weeknights from August 20th, 2022 through September 17th, 2022, start at $1,209 per guest per night for 2 guests per cabin. The price starts at $889 per guest per night for those staying with 3 guests in a cabin (2 adults and 1 child). For guests staying with 3 adults and 1 child in a cabin, the sample pricing starts at $749 per guest per night.
In other words, a stay at the Star Wars hotel won’t be cheap! But, there are a number of things included in that cost including a ticket to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and more.
Click here to see what our readers had to say as a first reaction to these prices!
Bookings for the Star Wars hotel will begin early for select guests, while general reservations will open later in October. The hotel itself is set to open in March of 2022!

Emilee Garman says
I want to stay at the new hotel but if it’s more than $130 a night I can’t do that. That could be why I don’t stay at a Disney resort .
Ted says
I’m a huge Star Wars fan, but we need to see more of the details to decide.
Samantha says
I can see how it’s not for everyone. My husband and his friends are HUGE Star Wars fans so are def itching to book a stay here… but I’m not interested in Star Wars much at all so will probably let the guys have their fun but I’ll stay with our lil kids at a diff disney resort for those 2 days lol.
Patrick says
It won’t be run like a hotel. Its a special attraction. You’ll probably have to call Disney special number for their tours would be my guess.
Melissa says
I like how my husband just referred to it – it’s a cruise. In “space.” Probably not for us but maybe!
Mike says
That number will go up, once prices are published
Diane Indovina says
I’d consider it, if it would guaranty a ride on Rise of the Resistance.
Brad says
Why would I want to take a vacation to stay inside a hotel for two whole days? I’m a Star Wars fan, but good lord, that’s not a vacation.
Lauren says
I am 100% going on the Halcyon Galactic Starcruiser! Taking all my adult children as well. We are all in…dressing the part as well. Hope they bring all my grandroids.
David C says
This hotel is just another Corporate Disney play for the 1%. Weed out the undesirables. It WILL be about $1000/day to stay there. Plus with Corporate Disney not even living up to what they SAID was going to be the experience at the land they built in the parks already, this is a slap in the face of all of the fans who went to D23 and was told what to expect, only to find out now that they only people who WILL end up with anything close to was was promised, will be the uber rich.
CC says
I love Star Wars, but I don’t know that I would enjoy this experience. Although I do have a few friends that would do this in a heartbeat.
Carly says
It’s not for me because I’m not a real Star Wars fan (now, if this were Marvel themed, I’d probably be all over it!). I am a bit surprised it’s not higher but I see from a lot of the comments here that people either don’t understand what it is or Disney hasn’t released the info to the general public yet. (Like people thinking it’s a hotel … it’s not a hotel, you’re fully immersed the entire time. And Disney really needs to start being more transparent about pricing, and that’s on MANY of their experiences, not just this one.)
Sarah says
I think it will be outrageously priced, I already feel that Disney is a “reach” vacation destination for a family of 5. From what I have seen in the concept art it looks like my family couldn’t fit in a room anyway. Disney really needs to offer more moderately priced hotel rooms for families larger then 4. We stay off property now because I can have a 5 bedroom home for two weeks for less than 6 days at an Art of Animation suite!
Gary says
Just for the stay at that hotel I’m guessing 2500 to 3 grand for those two nights you’re nuts. And with all the woke ness that’s going on I don’t see it happening . Hmmm heck I could probably get a ride I want to Elon musk rocket cheaper than that.OK Sarah don’t forget to moderate me out of existence later
Stacey R says
Nope. Not for us. We like Star Wars, but it’s just not Disney magic unless we see the castle and Spaceship Earth and whatnot. Not to mention Dole whips!
Brian says
I know that I’ve always wanted to try a cruise, and this idea of a two day Star Wars experience has me excited, if I can make it work in my budget. I was in love with the Rise of the Resistance experience.
However, my claustrophobic wife won’t even consider staying here or going onto a cruise where you are “trapped” for any length of time.
Ken says
Not for me… too many of Disney’s attractions have not lived up to the hype.
Tim White says
I’ve already told my wife this is on my bucket list, so yeah.
John says
In general all Disney World hotels cost a bunch. Even being close to the parks is not enough anymore. I am taking my family of 13, and we have found high end rental properties , including a private pool for 3k. To put us all up at a value resort it was more than double that. Plus paying for parking everywhere is no enticement to stay on property. At this point the benefits do not out-way the high costs.
Esther says
Not the least bit interested!
No matter what the cost
Star Wars is not Disney for me
Alan B. says
Need more details. However, If there is enough value for the experience the I will want to give it a shot.
Danielle says
Disney did something similar when they did The Disney Institute, doing the trip so people didn’t have time to get to the parks. People didn’t like this, they wanted to see characters and go to the theme parks.
I imagine the answer to the question will become even more lopsided on price alone and then become even more lopsided after it’s been open for a while. And how do they “keep” people from going into other parks anyway? I’ve got a Platinum Annual Pass. I can go to any park, any day. All I need to do is exit the hotel, go to the front of Hollywood Studios, turn around and go back in to register my entry and I’m free to go anywhere in the park.
Texas84 says
It’s not a hotel.
Starr Bielas says
If staying at a WDW hotel, we expect full access to WDW and transportation to those attractions. So, no, we wouldn’t stay there because of these reasons.
Connie says
I would love the experience, but pretty sure I the prices are too high! “I have a bad feeling about this!”
JRA says
I think it’s all going to depend on price. Rumors are floating that it could be as high as $1000 a night per person! If that’s the case, I doubt we will stay there. If it’s like staying at the Grand Floridian and $600 a night, I might indulge!
Jeanne Gonzalez says
I am a die hard SW fan. I just need to know the price so I can save up for it. I’ve been dying to stay here since they announced they were building it. Plus, those new lightsabers…what!
R2d2dc says
Huge, Huge Huge Star Wars fan here, but I don’t really want to be a part of this experience. I Love Star Wars and would like to see what they do with the hotel but not in this experience. I can live with having seen and loved the movies. I don’t need to live them.
Dr. M says
I love Star Wars, but Disney has done a poor job of satisfying the diehard fans (new movies were bad, Galaxy’s Edge should have had more classic Star Wars, like Mos Eisley’s Cantina instead of Oga’s Cantina…who the heck care’s about Oga, said my 23 year old HUGE Star Wars fan). Galaxy’s Edge really should be based on on Tatooine, not this new planet no one cares about. In trying to push the poorly done new movies, and in making Galaxy’s Edge part of this “new” Star Wars world, versus classic Star Wars, they have turned off a huge part of their fan base. The true die hard fans suspect the new hotel “cruise” will cater to the “new” Star Wars universe as well, and as someone who saw the original Star Wars in the theater 3 times back in 1977 and raised my kids to be Star Wars fans, I, and they, have no desire the waste money on Kathleen Kennedy’s warped view of the Star Wars genre. As my son says, “I would easily pay $300 just to walk in the park if Star Wars Land had been based on the classic movies. If it were Tatooine, I’d be there spending money every day of the week. As it is now, I have no desire to go there.” The thing is, my son will soon be having kids, and raising them on Star Wars movies. If he, and all of his friends (who think like he does about the Star Wars universe), are not willing to bring themselves and their children… the next generation of Star Wars fans…..to the park/hotel, Disney is in trouble. Hopefully they will pull a “Universal/Harry Potter” trick out of their hat and expand their current Galaxy’s Edge park to include Tatooine, classic Star Wars, and Mandalorian in the mix. Put Jon Fraveau in charge of updating/reimagining Galaxy’s Edge and the hotel “cruise”, and I’ll pay an arm and a leg just to walk in the door.
NEN says
I would have to see more of the details first before making that decision. As far as staying in a hotel for 2 days not being a vacation for some, I consider it the most relaxing vacation I’ve ever had. Particularly in the last year where my husband and I have done at least 4 Staycations. They were wonderful! Not every vacation has to be hectic and involve sightseeing or a theme park.
Joe says
There are not as many Star Wars fans in the world as WDW thinks. I know millennials who aren’t interested. I love the films but have no desire to tie myself down to a strictly SW stay. In the long run, I expect this entire project to be modified.
Debbie W says
I’ve never been a Star Wars fan. I’m more of a Star Trek fan. I don’t plan on staying at the new hotel. However, I do enjoy Star Tours. We didn’t get to ride the new Star Wars rides hen we visited in 2019 because the lines were too long.
Janice says
It sounds like it would be a lot of fun and I would be into a total immersive experience, but I would have two issues with it; cost and kids. I don’t know if I would want to spend a few thousand on two days. Also, over the years, people seem to be acting worse at Disney (and yes, the adults are also ruder than 20 years ago) and being and older adult, I wouldn’t want to pay that much and look forward to a certain experience to have it ruined by screaming kids that would not even fully enjoy the experience.
Jamie F. says
No thanks. No desire to waste 2 days on an experience that you know will be overpriced. Port Orleans is the best resort to go to by far in my opinion. It’s never extremely crowded, some of the best resort food , & able to relax on a 10 minute boat ride to Disney Springs.
Denise F. says
I.CANNOT.WAIT!!!
Bob B says
I get the impression that the people who characterize the Halcyon as just a hotel do not understand the concept. It’s far more than just a hotel. It will be as close to being in space and in the Star Wars “universe” as you can possibly imagine. And it will be priced accordingly.
Sandy says
I definitely want to experience it and will consider it like I do other unique travel experiences. I’ll save in advance and enjoy every minute!
Gabriel K. says
If it opens in time, I’d definitely would love to book a stay for my 40th next July. It just seems like it’d be a super cool experience to try out at least once.
Laurie says
I’m mildly interested in Star Wars, but this wouldn’t be for me.
Susan LeJune says
Maybe if you live close to WDW this might be a “treat” for you to try. Me, personally, wouldn’t spend the time/money for this experience.
Janet Roberson says
My daughter works for WDW and she said they have posted auditions coming up for different cast member parts for the Star Wars hotel. I doubt we would ever stay at this hotel (maybe if our grandchildren become MEGA fans). I’d like to see the inside just once, however!
Kris says
No.
Love Star Wars but not role play. Def not for 2 days. I’m happy for the super fans.
Eloni says
No thanks. I get bored in Galaxy’s Edge and I don’t care for the intergalactic food or whatever you call it. So nope.
Nelson says
It may not be as pricey as people suspect — but still pricey. The Disney Wish is still an expensive cruise but the cost was actually lower than most people expected — me included. The hotels and the cruises do not have a “locals” base to stand on like the parks do and so Disney will likely be more interested in opening to lower prices to bring in the crowds.
Richard+Mercer says
Very interested. But as it’s expected to be very expensive, I will expect that it includes admission to Rise of the Resistance. If not, I probably won’t do it.
Lela Danow says
The joke I continually tell is “I need to figure out how to sell a kidney on the black market”. I want to go, know I can’t afford it. I’m a huge SW fan, but one without any disposable income.
Doug says
Once you are in your room you have no visual access to the outside. Sounds like you’re on a Disney ride for that time. Not entertaining
Mickey says
I’m also a Star Wars fan but I don’t want to stay here. I like to be able to go into any park that I want; not be confined to a certain resort or the land where it takes place for 2 days. Also you would need to add extra time and an extra hotel room for the rest of the parks including Hollywood Studios since this resort is for the Galaxy Edge experience… 2 days isn’t enough time to really do anything at all. We went for 3 nights before and that was very hectic and not much fun for the same reason. It’s just not enough time to experience the parks and all they offer and the resort as a whole. And this is coming from someone who has been there 30+ times. You need at least 5 nights/6 days or even longer if you want some downtime for it to be enjoyable.
Yvonne Stoll says
Am not a Star Wars fan but I think Star Wars rides, etc. should be it’s own park. I think Star Wars fans would love to spend a day in a park like this. I think it would be a popular destination.
Laura says
I have absolutely no interest in and don’t care about Star Wars add in that I suspect it will be pricey even by Disney standards and it’s a very hard NO for me.
