There are quite a few construction projects going on around Disney World!
One of those involves a massive transformation to Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, which is getting reimagined rooms and a refurbished monorail station, lobby, and front entrance. We’ve been closely following this hotel’s progress, and recently, work took a BIG step forward!
Currently, the monorail cruises past the Polynesian, but does not stop there. And while onboard recently, we were able to take a peek at the construction!
What stood out to us among that jumble of parts and construction equipment was the GIANT piece that will eventually sit on top of the main building’s roof.
It looks like it’s still being built, but you can see those colorful panels have taken shape already.
For reference, here’s what it will look like once the transformation is complete!
Progress on the Polynesian’s refurbishment keeps trekkin’ along, and we can’t wait to see the finished product! All the construction is due to wrap up this summer. We’ll keep ya posted with plenty more updates along the way, so stay tuned to DFB!

The Polynesian is looking more like Aulani in Hawaii I guess that is the idea . Disney is spending a lot of !money for the 50 Anniversary they are hoping people will be able to spend money to go.

Hello! Will the lobby be completely redo or a refresh that looks sort of the same as it does today? Will the restaurants all remain as is? I want to get a better idea of what will change in the lobby area before booking. Thanks!
DFB Sarah says
Jenna, my understanding is that it’s primarily exterior work (including the Monorail platform) on the Great Ceremonial House rather than inside the lobby. Restaurants remain as is at this time.
