Disney World is constantly changing, which means construction is bound to happen!
And if you’re planning on visiting Disney World soon, you’ll want to be up to date on what’ll be closed during your trip! So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for June 7th-13th, 2021.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Fans of conquering Magic Kingdom’s mountains will have no go without one of ’em next week, when Big Thunder Mountain Railroad closes for a quick refurbishment!
And when we say QUICK, we mean it. The wildest ride in the wilderness will only be down from June 7th through June 12th! We’ll keep you posted as we learn exactly what this closure is for.

Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is undergoing a bit of a lengthier refurbishment. It closed this January to install an animatronic for President Joe Biden! No surprises here — this happens every time a new U.S. President is elected.
Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date yet, but we’ll let you know when they do!

Walt Disney World Railroad
And the Walt Disney World Railroad’s closure has been even longer: over 2 YEARS! While Disney hasn’t clarified what work is happening to the train, we do know that construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking its circle around the park.
That TRON construction has likely been delayed, so there is no opening timeline for the Railroad as of now. But as always, we’ll keep ya posted as Disney gives more information!

Main Street Confectionery
Last but not least, Main Street Confectionery is getting some TLC over on Main Street, U.S.A.! It closed for a pretty lengthy (and extensive refurb): recently, we’ve seen construction walls in the area.
As ya might expect, Disney hasn’t announced a reopening date for this shop. And just around the corner, The Chapeau is closed, too! But if you’re in the mood for some shopping on this iconic street, head over to Main Street Cinema. They’re serving up all of the Confectionery’s treats throughout the closure!

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Time to talk HOTELS! At Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we’re seeing MAJOR work being done to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station, as part of an overall reimagining to the hotel.
Meanwhile, the rooms are getting a Moana-inspired makeover! You can take a peek inside here. Don’t they look amazing?!
You can book those rooms NOW for stays beginning July 19th. We should see the rest of the construction wrap up around then, too!
Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Our final stop is Disney’s Contemporary Resort, where the Main Tower Guest Rooms are being refurbished. Those rooms are currently unavailable for booking, but other than that, visitors and guests shouldn’t be too affected by the construction. We confirmed with a Cast Member that the project should wrap up by the end of September!
You will want to note, though, that The Wave restaurant is closing in July for a lengthy refurbishment.
Keep that in mind if you’re planning your dining reservations for the summer!
