Every once in a while, we’ll see some construction goin’ on around Disney World!
And if you’re heading there soon, you’ll want to know how these projects impact what’s closed. So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for June 14th-20th, 2021.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents is undergoing a pretty characteristic refurbishment. Each time a new U.S. President is elected, the show will close to install a new animatronic! And currently, they’re working on President Joe Biden’s.
Now, Disney hasn’t specified when this show will reopen, but we’ll let ya know when they do!

Walt Disney World Railroad
Meanwhile, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been unavailable for over 2 YEARS! That’s a LONG time, folks. Its tracks are currently blocked by construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run, which means it’s not currently operational.
Now, TRON construction has likely been delayed, so there’s no telling when we’ll be able to kick back and relax on this train again. But we’ll keep an eye out for any updates and keep you posted!

Main Street Confectionery
And over on Main Street, U.S.A., Main Street Confectionery is getting a MAJOR refurb. Construction walls are up and we’re eagerly anticipating its big reveal! But Disney has yet to announce a reopening timeline, and we’ve probably got a while left to wait.
But while the Confectionery is closed, you can head over to Main Street Cinema for your candy fix! They’re servin’ up all of the Confectionery’s sweets. And keep in mind that a few doors down, The Chapeau is closed, too.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Now we’re off to some hotels! There’s a BIG transformation going on at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, including changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station.
And the guest rooms are getting a Moana-inspired makeover! They look pretty neat.
Those reimagined rooms are available for booking for stays beginning July 19th. The rest of the construction should wrap up this summer — and don’t forget that ‘Ohana is FINALLY reopening on July 9th!
Here’s How to Book a Room at a Reopened Polynesian!
Disney’s Contemporary Resort
Last but not least, we’re heading over to Disney’s Contemporary Resort. There, the Main Tower Guest Rooms are being refurbished! You’re currently unable to stay in ’em, but you can enjoy the rest of the hotel’s amenities (and rooms!) without being affected. A Cast Member we spoke with confirmed that the project should wrap up by the end of September.
However, you’ll want to know that The Wave restaurant is closing in July for refurbishment.
So you won’t be able to dine there this summer!
