It’s hard to believe it’s been over a year since Disney World reopened after closing due to the global pandemic.
And although some places are still closed to guests, we’re beginning to see more things reopen, including water parks and restaurants. And now something else at Disney World has reopened.
We’re talking about the arcades at Disney World hotels. We were at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort today and walked by the Iguana Arcade. And for the first time since the hotel’s reopening, the arcade was OPEN. So we walked in and looked around.
There’s a sign in the front of the arcade informing guests that they must wear masks when inside and must maintain a physical distancing of six feet from other guests. Do note that mask requirements are changing June 15th.Â
Guests can also help themselves to free disinfecting wipes to wipe down surfaces on games.
A hand sanitizer station is also readily available.
The games are still pretty much organized like they were pre-closure. Machines aren’t distanced apart.
Forget the quarters, though — arcade cards are required to play these games. There’s a card station that allows guests to get cards and put play points on those cards for certain amounts. They can recharge cards here with more play points, too.
This particular arcade is open from 8AM to 10PM.
Since the arcade at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort reopened, the Pixel Play Arcade at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort and the Fast Forward Arcade at Disney’s Pop Century Resort have also reopened their doors for some air-conditioned gaming!
This is the first time we are seeing of the arcades reopen at Disney World’s Value Resorts, and it is yet another thing that is going back to normal in Disney World.
Guests were already in there trying to beat the high scores and staying out of the summer heat. If we are being honest, we can’t blame them!
Guests are not required to wear a mask while in the arcade, similar to all other locations at Disney World other than when on transportation, so it really helps you take a break from the heat and walking around in the parks.
We’ll continue checking out other hotels, too, to see if arcades are open there, so if they are, we’ll let you know.
