Sometimes, we’ll see closures around Disney World.
These can be caused by maintenance or refurbishment —Â and if you’re heading into the parks, you’ll want to know what projects are goin’ on! So today, we’re bringing you our weekly refurbishment update for June 21st-27th, 2021.
Magic Kingdom Refurbishments
Hall of Presidents
The Hall of Presidents closes each time a new U.S. President is elected, in order to install a new animatronic. They’re currently working on President Joe Biden’s — nothin’ out of the ordinary here!
Disney hasn’t announced an opening timeline just yet, but we’ll let you know when they do!

Walt Disney World Railroad
In other Magic Kingdom news, the Walt Disney World Railroad has been closed for over 2 YEARS! That’s because construction on TRON: Lightcycle Run is currently blocking its path around the park.
So when could we see this fan-favorite train return? Well, TRON construction has likely been delayed, so there’s no way of knowing for sure. But we’ll keep ya posted with any updates!

Main Street Confectionery
Our last stop in Magic Kingdom is on Main Street, U.S.A., where Main Street Confectionery is closed for a BIG refurb. Construction walls are up, which means this is serious business, folks. But never fear: throughout the closure you’ll be able to snag all your favorite sweet treats at Main Street Cinema.
Disney hasn’t announced when this shop will reopen, but we’ll keep a lookout for any updates! And if you’re visiting this section of the park, you’ll wanna keep in mind that The Chapeau is currently closed, too.

Disney World Resort Refurbishments
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort
Onto some hotels! We’re kicking things off at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, where a HUGE transformation is taking place. A resort-wide reimagining means we’re getting changes to the main entrance, lobby, and monorail station. At this time, the monorail station is closed.Â
Meanwhile, the guest rooms are getting a Moana-inspired makeover! Don’t they look incredible?!
You’ll be able to stay in these refurbished rooms beginning July 19th (and you can book your reservation now!). The rest of the construction will finish up this summer as well — and one of our FAVORITE restaurants, ‘Ohana, is reopening on July 9th!

Disney’s Contemporary Resort
We’re wrappin’ things up at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! Over here, the Main Tower Guest Rooms are being refurbished. These are (naturally) unavailable for booking, but the rest of the hotel’s amenities are business as usual. We spoke with a Cast Member who confirmed that the project should wrap up by the end of September.
But if you’re visiting this summer, you’ll want to keep in mind that The Wave restaurant is closing for refurbishment in July.
Just somethin’ to note, friends!

When will the monorail station be open again at the Poly?
Beth says
I really hope The Hall of Presidents is back open by November! My parents used to make me sit thru that one every time as a kid and I hated it lol! Now I’d like to pass that tradition on to my kids!
As a grown up now (sort of! Lol) I’m actually looking forward to it. I never really appreciated it back then. I think the last time I saw it was when Clinton was the newest president. So its been a minute!
DFB Sarah says
Kim, Disney hasn’t released this info yet, unfortunately. But work at the Poly is expected to start wrapping up this summer.
