It’s Pride Month and there are a whole bunch of ways for you to celebrate in the Disney parks!
You can Pride Month snacks, check out some Disney phone wallpapers, and even grab some of Disney’s 2021 rainbow collection online. But, in a few months, you’ll be able to celebrate pride with the return of a special event at Disneyland.
According to The Orange County Register, Gay Days is set to return to Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park later this year. This unofficial event will take place from September 17th through September 19th.
Typically, the event takes place during October, but it has now been moved up — a plan that was reportedly a long time in the works.
During the event, participants will get the change to enjoy theme park meet-ups, trivia games, scavenger hunts, group photos, and parties.
The October Gay Days event was not able to take place in 2020 since Disneyland’s theme parks were closed at the time. The last Gay Days event held in Disneyland was a Mini Gay Days held in March of 2020, prior to the closures.
The first Gay Days Anaheim event actually attracted about 2,500 people back in 1998. Now, the event typically brings about 30,000 attendees to Disneyland’s theme parks. Gay Days Orlando typically attractions more than 100,000 attendees to Walt Disney World each June.
The schedule for this year’s Gay Days Anaheim has not been set yet, but it typically includes one day dedicated to Disneyland and another dedicated to California Adventure. There are also usually TV screenings, games, trivia, book signings, and even Disney celebrity appearances that take place outside of the park.
Gay Days is an unofficial event and is not presented by Disneyland. But, sponsors of the event include Aulani — A Disney Resort & Spa, Adventures by Disney, Disney Vacation Club, and Disney Pride (Disney’s LGBTQ+ diversity group).
We’ll keep an eye out for more news about this and other upcoming events in Disney’s parks and let you know what we find.
