The Walt Disney Archives are full of all kinds of incredible pieces of history from Disney movies, rides, and more.
From time to time, the Walt Disney Archives puts together special exhibits and brings them to different cities for Disney fans to enjoy. Well, if you’re a D23 Member and you want to get a special preview of more than 450 amazing objects from the Archives, including never-before-displayed sketches for the ghosts from the Haunted Mansion or a Wolverine costume, then you’ll want to check out this special event!
The Inside the Walt Disney Archives exhibit will be opening up soon at the Graceland Exhibition Center in Memphis, Tennessee! The Inside the Walt Disney Archives exhibit has been open at the Bowers Museum in Santa Ana for a while, but soon Disney fans in or near Memphis will get to see it. And if you’re a D23 Member, you could be among the first to go inside!
D23 is offering a special member preview event for the exhibit on July 22nd, 2021.
D23 Members will be able to be there for the dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony of this exhibit. Special guests for that portion of the event will include Bill Farmer (Disney Legend and the voice of Goofy & Pluto) as well as Bret Iwan (the voice of Mickey Mouse).
D23 Members will then be among the first to step inside of the exhibition. They’ll be able to see tons of original artwork, costumes, props, and more and even chat with some of the team from the Walt Disney Archives.
Then it’s time for a special presentation from Becky Cline, the Director of the Walt Disney Archives.
But wait…there’s more!! D23 Members will then be able to enjoy a buffet lunch and an exclusive screening of Adventures Thru the Walt Disney Archives. This film has actually only premiered to D23 members. It takes a look through the Walt Disney Studios lot and the 50 years of the archives.
AND all guests will get a gift as well as part of the event.
There are certain rules and restrictions which you can read about on the D23 website. Tickets for this even go on sale on Monday, June 21st at 10AM PST.
Gold Member tickets are priced at $99 per person (plus a $7 processing fee), and General Member tickets are priced at $125 per person (plus a $7 processing fee). D23 members are allowed to reserve tickets for themselves and up to 3 guests.
