Fireworks are BACK at Magic Kingdom (with Happily Ever After) and EPCOT (with EPCOT Forever)!
Both shows returned on July 1st and we were in Magic Kingdom and EPCOT to watch after over 400 days of no fireworks! But, you might be wondering if anything with these shows has changed. And the answer is yes! One part of the pre-show announcement for Happily Ever After in Magic Kingdom is now a bit different.
Ahead of Happily Ever After beginning, there is typically a pre-show announcement. Previously, this pre-show announcement included the phrase “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls,” when welcoming guests and alerting them to the upcoming fireworks. Specifically, it contained the phrase “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, dreamers of all ages.” But, this pre-show announcement has now changed.
On opening night, we of course took videos of every single second of the show, including the new announcement! In the video, you can hear that the pre-show announcement no longer contains the phrase “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls.” Instead, it skips that portion and now simply states “Good evening, dreamers of all ages.”

According to The Orange County Register, Disneyland has made a similar change and updated their announcement to say “Good evening, friends,” removing the “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls” language.

That is the most ridiculous and stupid change ever!

Political correctness gone amuck!

Excellent! Small change; big meaning.
Christina says
Well, Disney certainly is inclusive. *L* I don’t actually mind this change; it’s shorter, for one thing, and it reflects the reality that not everyone fits into a category. And everyone is welcome to come to Disney and spend their money!

I really like “dreamers of all ages”. It has more of that Disney flair than “ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls”.
I also like inclusivity, so I think the change is a win all around.
