While Disney World has been making a lot of changes to return back to “normal,” one major program has yet to return: Fast Pass+.
FastPass+ has been suspended since the reopening of Disney World in July 2020 in order to maximize queue capacity for social distancing purposes. We’ve talked about why FastPass may not return to Disney World anytime soon, and we decided to ask our readers for your opinion on whether you want the FastPass+ program back at all…or whether you’d be okay paying for it.
We’ve wondered whether Disney might be planning to transition the Disney World FastPass+ program into something like Disneyland’s monetized MaxPass program, which is currently suspended but previously allowed guests to pay $20 as an add-on for daily access to FastPasses combined with the cost of PhotoPass downloads.
With so many unknowns regarding Disney World’s FastPass+ system right now, we asked our readers on Instagram if they’d rather pay for a FastPass+ program or not have any FastPass+ program at all, and the results were surprising!
It’s a 50/50 split! 50% of you would rather have no FastPasses at all, while the other half is willing to pay for FastPass access!
Both Disney World and Disneyland are currently using virtual queues for select rides, so it is possible we may see something like that in a future revision of the Disney World FastPass+ system. With Disney World capacity increasing, we are seeing longer ride waits, which may lead to more of a demand for the return of some form of the FastPass program again, and 50% of our readers are willing to pay for that access.
However, there has been some recent movement when it comes to FastPasses, as Disneyland Paris has implemented its own paid program for guests. The brand new Disney Premier Access feature on the Disneyland Paris app allows people to go through a quicker line at select rides for €8 to €15 per person, per attraction (or about $9 to $18). Guests can either purchase them through the app or with the help of a Cast Member, but they must be inside the park to do so.
Similar to a Virtual Queue, the Disney Premier Access will give purchasers the opportunity to choose their attraction and time slot, buy the passes, and return to the ride at their designated time with a QR code in the app. Disneyland has stated that guests can purchase “a maximum of 3 Disney Premier Access for each attraction per Guest per day, and up to 12 Disney Premier Access for one attraction and one time slot at a time, depending upon availability.”
Since there is a limited availability of these Premier Access passes, the Standby lines are still available through Virtual Queues on the My Disney Experience app.

We can continue to theorize about the future of Disney World’s FastPass+ program but we do not yet know how Disney plans to proceed. What are your thoughts? Would you pay? If you would, how much are you willing to spend each day to get on your favorite rides? Stay tuned to DFB for all your Disney World FastPass news and updates!

I will not pay extra for fast passes. We travel on a budget and are thankful we can afford to go to Disney World and Universal once every 4 years!
Jodi says
Not willing to pay for fast passes I pay enough to get in the park . If I gave to pay in the future I will not more than 30.00 a day it gets costly for a family theses days .
Ric says
If WDW has to revamp the Fastpass system, I favor the pass system used at Universal . I believe that if you stay at the more expensive Universal hotels your pass is free. WDW hotels have less perks than they use to . The perks are what made our family choose a Disney hotel over others. Now I’m not so sure.
If I understand the pass system in Paris, a family of four would pay $32 for one ride . That’s way too much. You already paid a hefty amount just for the park ticket.
I don’t understand why the old way of Fastpass Plus won’t be an option or DDP for that matter. I hope a decision is made quickly as my family is waiting again having missed our trip last summer.
Maybe the Disneyland Max Pass could be used. However, there’s only two parks and therefore less money you would have to spend.
Maybe a virtual system could be used instead of paying to ride. Isn’t paying park admission giving you the privilege to ride?
Athena braun says
Personally I wouldnt unless it had perks like photopass. The perks of going to WDW get less and less. I’m about at the point to go elsewhere . Universal is looking mighty good to me here lately
Jodi says
You can also have it included in your resort stay like they do at some universal studios. Resorts.
Tammy says
I wouldn’t mind paying a little extra for a fast pass, but not $10 per person per ride! I like the fast pass feature at The Land. Why can’t they do similar at World? Pay a little extra for one pass at a time? For a family of four it would be an extra $400 per day for 10 rides. That’s too extreme.
Kathy says
Is Disney not expensive enough?? No, I will not double pay to ride rides faster at Disney.
John Staley says
Resort guests – No pay (They’re paying enough as it is)
Non resort guests – Charge for fast passes. Let them pay for the convenience.
Jeffery Roche says
Disney is pricing out the average American Family.
Walt could have done that too, but he didn’t, he loved the American Family.
I’m all for the free market, but just because you can do something, doesn’t mean you should.
Geti says
Sure I would. If Disney no longer charge for parking at the hotels, raise ticket tickets, raise good cost, bring back Magical Express, etc. Get my drift?
Christina says
Keep it up, Disney. It might take a while, but you will in fact price yourselves right out of business.
Julia says
No, I would not pay for fast pass. I remember days before it was instituted. I love Disney, but they keep adding on costs.
K. Sullivan says
If the number of fast passes per day sold is limited overall it might work. Otherwise, only those who pay the extra price get to ride with reasonable waits. Those without may be blocked out of a lot of ride time. If everyone buys then it’s not a fast pass, it’s just paying to stand in line at designated times. Personally, I like the original, 3 free per day when you get there. No fast pass with everyone taking their chances is fair. Disney is creating two classes of attendees. Enough.
Chad Weyman says
If WDW wants to charge guest that are staying off-site for fastpass, then okay… But I feel that guest staying at a WDW resort hotel should get this perk at no charge. Recently, the advantages of staying at WDW have disappeared. Staying on site has a cost premium and if I’m not offered any benefit for staying there, then why not stay at a cheaper off-site hotel or Airbnb? Seriously, extra magic hours are gone.. DME is going away in January. You have to pay for parking… What’s next? Pay for dining reservations??? Soon my family will not be able to afford Disney.
Also, I find the pole on fastpass to be flawed… There should be a choice to leave fastpass unchanged… That would be my vote… Why fix what isn’t broken? To me, this is a money grab… It may be fine for those that money is no object.. But for the rest of us, adding an additional cost to ride Disney attractions without waiting for several hours in line is a deal breaker…
Darlene says
I already spend thousands going to Disney. I continue to pay more and get less. Perhaps it is time to stop handing my money to Disney. This makes me incredibly sad but the Disney magic keeps fading while the Disney greed spirals out of control.
LJ says
People oppose the fast pass system because it isnt fair. Fast oassers get on the rides immediately. They dont even wait 5 minutes!!! Everyone else waits a LONG time. Unfair, totally. As for paying, the place is expensive enough and not every family can afford to pay more and more. Disney lost me some years ago when a delightful fun place turned into an unpleasant marathon requiring planning like the invasion of Normandy. Its very sad. Walt must be turning in his grave. Their end game is to limit every guest to 3 rides a day. Figure out the oer ride cost of that.
FL-DAD says
Up to $20 per person per ride? Are you F-ing kidding me?
I know Disney has been losing $1 Billion per month, but they are pricing people out of visiting.
EMp says
I personally think they should just go back to the old system with two lines a left and a right which is fared. You get in line and you get to ride based on when you got in line. Why should people get to ride at certain times and others get appointments but if you want to go to a different system. I think one line should be for those who stay ar Disney resorts and a line for those who don’t. Shouldn’t have to pay extra to move to head of the line. And schedule ing fast passes just ruins your vacation. Every time I scheduled a fast pass I missed it because I couldn’t get there in time . You are walking way more. I use to be able to schedule my day much better without fasrpasses. Running back and forth across parks wastes a lot of time too, not to mention how much walking with all the added distances to bus stops. New areas etc. seven miles a day is enough.
Todd says
I’ve been convinced for years that Fast Pass+ isn’t a net reduction in overall wait time for guests because it slows down standby lines. I would support either going back to the original Fast Pass by getting one at a time once you are physically in the park (today’s tech would eliminate needing to go to the paper ticket distribution location) or eliminating Fast Pass completely. My expectation though is that a new revenue source is coming to WDW and no matter how we all will complain, there are plenty that will opt for it.
Cindy says
I would gladly pay a lot extra for a fast pass if it was like Knott’s Berry Farm: one price for every attraction.
Ralena says
You’re already paying for it – by paying Disney’s outrageous prices to stay on property!
Roz says
Not NO but NO WAY !!! They have literally lost their minds !!!!!!!!!
Meghan says
I’ve used MaxPass at Disneyland. It is so great and an amazing value. Twenty dollars for all your photos and the ability to make fast pass reservations on your phone. I did not like how WDW had fast pass set up.
S Varga says
Maybe then decrease admission costs? What is the perk then? For even staying on property?
Mr . JOHN says
I have been going to Disney for over 25 years pay for fast passes is not for me . I am not giving Disney money for a free practice . They are going to be like Universal way they do it for years . Disney is going to price them out of business in people’s eyes . A family can only go on vacation on some kind of budget Disney is pushing people not to go anymore . People coming from other states and pay for airplane tickets , resort ,food it can be a one time visit .
Big Daddy 123 says
The business side of Disney looked at the behavior of customers and believes they will pay for the “Premier Access”. It is being used in Shanghai and soon Paris. Scream, kick and have your temper tantrum but be prepared to pay for quicker access. Universal has been successful at it for years and Disney will follow suit.
Carol says
This is ridiculous! How many more fees here and there will they add. For the price of a park ticket, no way should people need to pay even more for a fastpasses. Or how about what the plan was, everyone gets 3, then let the club level people with the money pay for even more of them if they want! Seriously, there’s way too many price increases and extra costs added on everything already. Please stop with all the extra fees!!! Pretty soon, Disney will only be for the wealthy. So sad…
Erah says
I would agree to pay an additional fee for unlimited Fast Pass like all the other parks in FL but there is absolutely NO WAY I’m paying PER RIDE!
And at $80 a pop (another day at the parks basically) we simply won’t go to Disney anymore.
This isn’t a particularly savvy strategy on Disney’s part because as someone mentioned it’s a laughable money grab and will only drive families like mine into the Universal and Sea/Busch parks.
Tink says
Saddened by the thought of Disney wanting to charge us for something that used to be free. Walt would have been sad too. Disney management is slowly chipping away at what used to make the Parks magical. Soon only the very rich will be able to afford to go.
Jack says
Bring back the old fast pass system. I’m happy with 3 fast passes a day for free. Anything is better than spending all day in line.
dante says
i do not think there are too many other Disney nuts like me out there that want to pay more for stuff we are so used to getting for free… enough is enough, DME is going away , now talk of no more fast pass… w t f , pardon me for being annoyed.. i am a true Disney fan-nut as they come,, please don’t hurt us anymore. love disney. and want to continue to do so. I hope …..
Rita Lepore says
I think all Disney does is take good things away or charge money for things. When is enough enough. Walt would troll in his grave at what you are doing. Be fair to Disney friends. All we do it pay pay pay!!!!
Francine says
MaxPass was not required to use the FastPass system. If you paid for MP, you had the convenience of booking FPs in the app, but folks not able or interested in paying a premium could still walk up to a FP booth for a pass. The cost of MP was nominal and included access to PhotoPass, so was a worthwhile addition to me, but I liked that FPs were still available to all at no extra charge.
barbara a fitzgerald says
I would pay for fast pass well worth it…
Mary says
My family has always loved everything Disney. However, Disney is breaking our hearts with their recent decisions. First, the loss of the Magical Express and all its benefits such as having luggage delivered directly to your room. When our children were little, it made our trip so very special. We could hit the parks and not have to worry about retrieving our bags, etc. Then came the recent news that late night hours might only be for guests staying at deluxe resorts and now the possibility of having to pay extra for fast passes! What has happened to the Disney we love?
Martha says
Fast passes made it possible for our family to ride the popular rides (my husband has no patience for long lines), and the old system where we could sign up for 3 fast passes in advance worked great for us. Park tickets are already expensive… to have to pay for a fast pass could be a dealbreaker for us.
Mark says
Should be a perk for all who stay on property.
Fast pass has been a life saver for us who has a disabled child.
The current disability pass system lacks at best, the loss of fast pass is devistating!
I am so tired of being nickeled and dimed to death, been there every year for last 25 years and every year it has gotten worse. I guess the buiness of the middle class is no longer wanted.
A great mans dream slowly destroyed.
John says
I agree the nickle and dime here and there gotta stop. Charging for parking at the resort and now fastpasses. Enough already! You already charge enough for the resorts and parks. We love WDW and still plan on going again in June 2022 but it really is sad at some of the things they are charging for plus taking away like Disney’s magical express.
Catherine says
I have been going to Disney since the first year it opened! It is truly my happy place. I go to Disney to unplug and recharge, but guests are being forced to live with their phone in their hand more and more. I wonder, “What would Walt say?” about all the charges for every little thing. It seems like there has been a steady decline in benefits and a rise in charges. I fear the people who the parks were designed for are being priced right out of attendance and it is becoming only accessible to the very privileged. We last visited the week before Disney World closed last year and will be going again in 2 weeks. I guess I will get to experience the “new” Disney, but I am going with more than a little trepidation. I am not in support of pay-per-ride at the prices that are being implemented at Disneyland Paris.
Robin F says
I have always been a huge Disneyworld supporter and visitor but enough is enough! I think it is unconscionable that Disney would charge for FastPass which is- m a system that was controlled and working well. Disney has taken every opportunity to add to the cost of a visit including charging parking at hotels, increasing park ticket prices regularly, eliminating “free” transportation from the airport etc. Not to mention all of the additional charges in Disney + tv. Not Sur this would have been Walt’s vision
Carol Heppa says
I think Disney should give the Fast Passes as gratis to those staying at the Deluxe Hotels or DVC villas. This would be comparable to what Universal Studios does with there premium hotel guests by giving them express entrance. WDW should reward guests paying those high accommodation prices by giving them the fast pass access.
Steve K says
If the question asked was as stated above, then the results are meaningless. I would be willing to pay a small fee to skip lines, but not the price Disney Paris is charging. So my answer is yes in one case, and no in the other.
I justified staying on property at Universal because it included fastpass access. So as others have mentioned, that could be an option too.
I understand Disney wants to recoup some, or all, of the money it lost due to the pandemic, but can anyone name one positive thing that came out of Disney in the last 18 to 24 months?
I want to think of MIckey and Pooh, and the fun times I had with my parents, and my kids. I don’t want to think about how my Disney stock is doing because of all the price increases and service reductions.
Darryl says
Disney is getting out of control with add on prices, (possibly paying for fast passes, resort parking) Our family used to go once or twice a year, but with Covid we haven’t been there since Christmas of 2019. To answer the question I do not agree with paying for fast passes and would never do it.
Jeff Piquette says
Another “they’ll pay for anything” money grab. What’s Disney adding for its guests? New attractions don’t count, competition requires that.
Neil says
With price increases every year just to get into the park, why would I want to pay more to get on a ride quicker?? It should remain free. If I had to pay for it, I would want no restrictions on how many times I can use it. Like buying an unlimited wristband.
Micah says
It was perfectly fine before. We had zero complaints… wait times were always do-able for us when we also has some fast passes. No, I don’t want to pay for fast passes especially when I know it worked perfectly fine before… universal’s is great, I’m sure, but after so many are sold the price is outrageous!! Doubled the cost for us when I checked last time we went!!!! Not looking forward to them changing and charging for FPs in the future…
Darlene says
No! Would not pay extra for fast pass! Been there several times, will wait for what I want to see because line times do change throughout the day. Just feel bad for those that have never been there.
K says
Never going back until Disney stops this outrageous assault on families finances. How could a family have a good time when Mom and Dad are being financially raped at every turn in Disney?
Their theory of “ it’s gonna cost a little more, for this and that” Add that up.for a family and the little more ruins a vacation. Some just can’t afford little more Disney so flippantly adds to the end total.
SB Gorilla says
This sounds like a job for Disney GENie! Pay the extra for the ‘FastPass’, then tell the app what rides, shows and restaurants you want and the app will map out your day for you.
Personally, I’d still like to chose between the fast pass and wanting to wait in the standby queue. Some of them are as fun as the ride is!
Mike says
Bring back FastPass+ and stop the Money Grubbing, all of this has us searching for other vacation destinations !
