So many of our favorite snack spots, restaurants, and hotels are reopening at Disney World!
And we’re especially excited about the reopening of Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort in just a few days! In the meantime, we’ve been enjoying the newly-reopened ‘Ohana there. But today, we noticed a snack spot at the resort had also reopened!
While we were visiting Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, we saw that Kona Island has officially reopened.
Now, this isn’t to be confused with Kona Cafe next door. Kona Island is a snack spot where you can pick up some specialty coffee drinks and pastries in the morning…
…as well as sushi and other goodies for lunch and dinner.
But also, this is where you get some delicious CANDIED BACON! The iconic bacon at Kona Island is returning, but we wanted to give each flavor a try since it had been a while!
We’re trying ALL the chocolate covered BACON at Kona Island at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort! There’s 4 different varieties to try.

The Dark Chocolate Bacon is for those who love some plain, chocolate-covered bacon. It wasn’t our favorite, but it’s the simplest option of the bacon choices.
The Dark Chocolate Cinnamon Pecan Bacon had an interesting texture! The nuts made it super crunchy, and although it wasn’t our favorite, we enjoyed it.
Last but not least is the seasonal Pineapple and Coconut Chocolate-Covered Bacon. This was our favorite bacon flavor! It was a fun mix with the dried pineapple and toasted coconut. Overall the bacon was pretty peppery on its own — it was seasoned very well and surprisingly, it was not too salty. Each pair of bacon is $4, but there were some pre-packaged boxes with one of each flavor!
We saw lots of other yummy-looking treats in the case today, too, including some Chocolate-Covered Strawberries…
…some Toasted Coconut Strawberries…
…some M&M’s Strawberries…
…and more! They’ve got cupcakes and other selections as well. So if you find yourself over at the Polynesian in need of a sweet snack, you know where to go (and again, GET THE BACON). And we’ll keep you updated on all reopenings at Disney World!

Are outside visitors allowed in yet? If you’re local, can you drive over and get this yumminess?
Ken says
The bacon seems right priced, but $4. for a chocolate covered strawberry is a little expensive. $3 would be better

Bellamouse, the official policy is that you must have a reservation to dine or stay at the hotel in order to drive into the Resort. You can use Disney transpo to access the Resort, and you’re also able to get through security if you have a confirmed Mobile Order at the Resort as well.

Love the posts and updates!
I’ve been going to WDW since 1976 and with my family since 1999!
We are DVC owners with our homembase at the Polynesian.
Do you know if the Moana updates were done at the DVC buildings?
Keep up the excellent reporting!!
DFB Sarah says
Thomas, the DVC rooms have not been updated to Moana at this point. Disney also has not said they will be refurbing them in that style, but if there’s any news on that front, we’ll update.
