Disney World is so busy right now with refurbishments to get ready for the big 50th anniversary celebration that begins on October 1st!
EPCOT is getting a MAJOR transformation, Cinderella Castle got a makeover, and Fantasyland got a few new golden accents.
Even Main Street Confectionery at Magic Kingdom is getting a new look, and because of refurbishment, it’s currently closed (and yes, we MISS THAT SMELL). But now it looks like the candy shop might not be done in time for the 50th anniversary opening day celebration. According to the Disney World website, the Confectionery will still be under refurbishment through October 2nd.
That’s as far as the refurbishment calendar goes, so we’ll continue to keep an eye on it and see if the schedule changes at all.
Now it’s possible that the work being done on Main Street Confectionery could be done before that date — or even after. Disney has not yet made an announcement about a reopening date, but if the company does, we’ll be the first to let you know!

Typical Disney refirb…taking far too long. Why is it that Disney is the only major company I know of that does not work a 24 hour shift on refirb. This is one area that just does not seem guest focused. A 6 month refirb could be reduced to a 30 day turnaround if it is scheduled properly. Poor management for sure…bad show Disney. The guest experience is surely not the focus of the refirb. Better to be closed and disappoint the guest vs. being open and making Magic for the guest every day. Hey Disney, you need to hire me as a project manager to get the job done. More for less and ahead of schedule.
