We’ve known about the reopening of the resort for a while now, but were left in the dark about whether or not Trader Sam’s Grog Grotto and Tiki Bar would be back any time soon…until today! Trader Sam’s officially reopened this afternoon and we, of course, got there as soon as we could to get some tiki drinks! But the line to get in got a bit crazy!
When we showed up to Trader Sam’s, there was a line to get your name into the virtual queue for the grotto.
This was the line to get INTO the virtual line!
We got on the list and later got a text to go inside (WHOOP WHOOP). Thankfully we got there early enough, because the virtual queue has now been CLOSED for the rest of the day!

The virtual queue reached up to 5 HOURS today to get into Trader Sam’s. That’s a long time to wait for some cocktails! We signed up early and waited for a little over an hour to be called inside. But the tiki bar is popular, and it’s also pretty small inside, so that combo definitely contributed to that long wait time.
With these awesome Cast Members, who could blame all those people for wanting to get in here?!
The virtual queue system is expected to continue after today, so if you want a chance to get in, we suggest showing up early to get your spot in line! We have a FULL review of Trader Sam’s coming to you soon, so stay tuned to DFB to see what’s changed at the iconic Polynesian bar!

This was so unhelpful. You never mentioned what time the line starts to get on the list. It use to be 3pm.
You would think you would have mentioned it in the first line. We showed up early at blah blah blah.
What time do they start taking virtual queue’s ?
Is it a digital virtual queue like ror – or do I need to be at GCH at Pvr to physically join the queue
Jennifer, this post is talking about Trader Sam’s at Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort. Here the “virtual queue” is in person — you wait in line to be added to the virtual queue and receive a text when it’s your turn to enter.
I went in June 2022 and there was no virtual queue. Perhaps it was a matter of just getting there at the right time. I believe we got there between six and seven. I did notice that around seven they started having a wait list. This was last June 15, 2022.
