One of the most classic ways to travel around Disney World (and one of our favorites!) is the monorail.
There are two theme parks with monorail service at Disney World — Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. While the Magic Kingdom monorail loop has been running since the reopening, the EPCOT monorail line just reopened the other day after being closed since March 2020. And now, just 2 days after reopening, it’s already closed again!
When we stopped by EPCOT this afternoon, we noticed this sign out in front of the monorail station.
Disney hasn’t shared any information on this closure or how long it will last. We’ll make sure to check back in on it tomorrow to see if it’s running.
This reminds us a bit of the closure of the PeopleMover in Magic Kingdom. Just a few days after being open for a year-long refurbishment, the ride experienced issues and had to be evacuated.
We’ll let you know if we receive any updates on the monorail, so stay tuned to DFB. We’ve got the latest Disney parks news to share with you!

It is probably another case of a machine not working after months of sitting idle. Disney has had multiple incidents with attractions. I suppose the monorail is not immune from this type of malfunction. I’m sure this monorail malfunction will be addressed, and it will be running again soon.

Why is this not shocking? The monorails are well passed life-expectancy regardless of how many times they might paint and replace interiors. The 15 months of being out of service seems like the perfect opportunity to get the monorails in shape, but it seems more likely that they sat and Disney saved the labor hours.

Too bad, but this is just another example of poor quality of service that seems to abound at WDW. I agree, they had 15 months to fix everything and test everything before raising guest expectations only to drop the ball on the execution. Disney is just not Disney like it used to be. Long delays, poor strategic planning, cutting back on services and perks. After 30 years, I might need to start looking for another park to visit. So sad, but the new CEO just does not seem to have what it takes. Bob Iger bailed just in time. I wonder what he really knew.

I just came back from Disney the monorail went down last Tuesday had to take the bus . Disney needs to invest in new ones it is inconvenient for us to have to worry about transportation.
