UPDATE: It appears this dining glitch has been resolved. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates.
There are several things you need to do prior to your Disney World trip like make Park Pass reservations, and, perhaps most importantly, make those Advance Dining Reservations.
When Disney World reopened after the pandemic closures last year, it reduced the Advance Dining Reservations booking window to 60 days, as opposed to 180 days. But, could that be changing soon? Here’s what we’re seeing.
Earlier today one of our fantastic DFB readers reached out to us about something they were seeing with the Advance Dining Reservations calendar. Specifically, they noticed that the calendar on the Disney World website allowed them to scroll through to January 17th, 2022 when selecting a date to search for reservations. That would be 180 days from today, much further than the 60 day booking window. So, we went to search for ourselves.
One member of our team took a look at the dining page and was in fact able to scroll the calendar all the way through to January 17, 2022.
But, when they actually tried to look for available reservations on that date, the Disney website showed an error message and said there was a problem searching for reservations at this time. So, no reservations could actually be booked for that far in advance.
Another member of our team looked on both the My Disney Experience app and the Disney World website and was only able to move the calendar through September of 2021, within the current 60 day window. So it seems that the glitch that allows guests to even scroll 180 days into the calendar is only appearing for some individuals.
UPDATE: We went back and checked the dining website on July 22nd, and the same DFB team member who previously was able to move the calendar to 180 days out was no longer able to move the calendar that far. So, it appears this dining glitch has been resolved. We’ll keep an eye out for more updates.
So, what do we know? Right now, Advance Dining Reservations at Disney World can still only be made 60 days in advance (though Disney Resort hotel guests can make reservations up to 60 days in advance plus the length of their stay up to 10 days). Some guests may be able to move the calendar on the dining site all the way through January of 2022, 180 days from now, but will not be able to make a reservation for that far in advance.
Could this mean that Disney is preparing the site to eventually allow for reservations to be made 180 days in advance? It’s possible, but Disney has not yet made any statements to that effect or changed its policy. It’s possible that this is nothing more than a simple glitch in the system.
We’ll continue to keep an eye out for more updates and let you know what we find.

Any new news on the Magic Express after January.
DFB Sarah says
Jean, Disney has only said that Magical Express will no longer be available January 1, 2022, onward.

Do you think once they change it back to 180 days, that they’ll announce ahead of time? If so, I can imagine the rush of people clogging up the system on the exact date of “reopening” it. Maybe they should just keep it quiet and do a “soft” opening. Even then, regardless if 180 or 60 day ADR days, I hope they increase indoor dining capacity back to normal. That might ease the clogging up of other table AND counter serve restaurants. Unfortunately, they probably won’t until Covid cases in the region drop significantly.

Not a fan of 60 day. I’ve been trying numerous times a day to book one specific date in September that just became available. One it showed up around 1 am I tried and it was already reserved for the day.
I tried the day before and that date was not an option then.
I keep trying – no change
Very frustrated

Cindy, we’ll have to wait and see if Disney reverts back to 180 days and how they go about doing that. I think you’re right that a sudden offering would overwhelm the systems, both phone and online.

I ordered the sweatshirt about pixie dust and it’s too small! This was from DFBs email. It’s to small and there’s no packing slip or return instructions! Am I stuck with this????
