We’ve been keeping an eye out for all the refurbishments and closings that will happen in Disney World this week!
A lot of the same construction is happening around the park, but there’s one BIG ride that’s closing for a few days this week! If you’re heading into Magic Kingdom soon, make sure you plan around this closure!
For the Disney World parks, only Magic Kingdom has rides with scheduled closures for this week! In Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and EPCOT, all the rides are expected to remain open! Let’s see what we’ll be missing from Magic Kingdom.
Magic Kingdom
“it’s a small world”
The biggest news for closures in Disney next week is that “it’s a small world” will be closed on Tuesday, July 27th through Thursday, July 29th. It’s supposed to be open again on Friday the 30th!
Since it’s such a short closure, we’re guessing it’s just for routine maintenance and cleaning! This is a popular ride in Fantasyland, though, so if it’s a must-hit for you, make sure you’re there Monday or Friday instead!
Walt Disney World Railroad
The Walt Disney World Railroad is also still closed, due to TRON construction in Tomorrowland disrupting the tracks.
It could be a while until we see this ride reopen since TRON construction is coming along but still looks far from finished! We saw an update today to the Main Street, U.S.A. station with part of the scrim removed, revealing the top of the station and the clock!
We’re super excited to see progress on the station since we’ve been looking at that not-quite-perfectly-convincing scrim for so long!
Hall of Presidents
There’s another closed attraction in Magic Kingdom that got some progress this week — the Hall of Presidents!
The Hall of Presidents is still closed for this week, but we got to see a first look at the new President Joe Biden animatronic that was installed.
This installation means that the Hall of Presidents is close to opening. Disney has said it will open in August of this year! We will keep you posted on an exact date.
Main Street Confectionery
There’s one Magic Kingdom spot that’s still closed for updates without any news on its progress: the Main Street Confectionery.
Right now, the sweet shop on Main Street, U.S.A. is listed on the refurbishments calendar through October 9th of this year. We could see it open a little sooner, but Disney hasn’t given any clues about its return! If you’re dying for a sweet treat in Magic Kingdom, try the Plaza Ice Cream Parlor instead!
That about sums it up for Magic Kingdom closures, so let’s see what’s going on at the resorts around Disney World!
Resorts
Polynesian Village Resort
Some BIG news for this week is that Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort has reopened, with completed Moana-themed rooms and a big, new front entrance!
One thing didn’t return with the Polynesian’s reopening: the Monorail station at this resort. It’s still under construction, so there are buses at the resort to take you to and from Magic Kingdom for now!
Another Disney World hotel that’s getting a major refurbishment is Disney’s Contemporary Resort, also located close to the Magic Kingdom!
There are updates coming to the Main Tower rooms and new Incredibles-themed rooms coming as well!
Since the Wave…of American Flavors inside the Contemporary is closed for refurbishments as well, its breakfast menu is available at another Contemporary restaurant — California Grill! We were super impressed with this breakfast when we had it! It has all of the deliciousness of the Wave breakfast and all the amazing views from Cali Grill!
As a reminder, the main lobby of Contemporary is not available at this time because of the refurbishments. Instead, you’ll need to go to the second floor for check-in and guest services! There will be Cast Members or signs to remind you when you arrive!
That’s all we’ve got for ya as far as closures and refurbishments for next week! Keep on following DFB for more updates to help you plan your trip!
