Since Disney World reopened, SO many things have changed.
All of the resorts are reopening by the end of the year, several restaurants are reopening for guests again, and now in person runDisney events are returning soon! The Disney Wine and Dine Half Marathon Weekend will happen this November, and the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend will take place this January. We recently learned about the themes for the runDisney races, but if you want to participate, you’ve gotta act FAST!
Walt Disney World Marathon registration is now open to all on the runDisney website! The event is set to take place in person from January 5th-9th, 2022, and will celebrate Mickey and friends since it is during the 50th anniversary celebrations.
There are several events to choose from including the 5K starting at $95, the 10K starting at $135, the half marathon starting at $195, and the marathon starting at $195. There are also a few challenges including the Goofy’s Race and a Half Challenge starting at $390, and the Dopey Challenge starting at $600.
If you don’t feel like running in person or can’t make it to Disney World, don’t worry! There are virtual race options as well ranging from $79 to $480 in price. runDisney races tend to fill up very quickly, so grab a spot while it’s still available!
After the Walt Disney World Marathon, runDisney will also host an in person Disney Princess Half Marathon Weekend in February, so keep that in mind when planning which race(s) you want to do!

It is unfortunate that RunDisney chose the first week of January again. In 2018 they did this, and the park crowds were unbearable because most of the Holiday crowds had not left yet, and the parks get crowded with just people for the running events. We will not participate again when it is in the first week, because of crowds.
