Traveling is not always easy, and many people experience delays, complications, and cancellations.
Being stranded at the airport with your flight canceled can be frustrating, and a lot of travelers in Orlando, FL are experiencing just that today.
According to the Orlando Sentinel, Spirit Airlines experienced breakdowns this weekend that led to them proactively cancel 22 out of 73 flights scheduled to depart from Orlando International Airport on Monday. Orlando airport spokeswoman Carolyn Fennel called it “a perfect storm” of issues caused by weather, staff reductions caused by COVID-19, and a spike in travel.
A Spirit spokesman claimed that the cancellation issues were caused by “weather and operational challenges,” and the Orlando airport staff are assisting Spirit with travelers experiencing travel disruptions. The Orlando Sentinel cites Spirit Airlines as the “second-busiest airline at Orlando International Airport.”
Many Spirit flights remain on schedule at this time, and Spirit claimed to be working to resolve these issues. Keep reading DFB for all your Disney World and Florida news that could impact your next visit!

Stopped flying Spirit years ago for this reason. After one trip with a total of 12 hours of delays that was the last straw!! They offered a $50 credit and even that couldn’t get me to fly again with them. Never experienced the same issues with any other airline!! Not to mention the overbooked flights every time!!
