Happy Halloween, DFB friends!
It may only be August, but Halloween is already underway in Disney World! Right now you can make your way down Main Street, U.S.A. to see the classic Mickey pumpkins and fall colors, dress up for a night in Magic Kingdom during Disney After Hours Boo Bash, or eat your way through all the Halloween treats your stomach can handle in the parks and resorts. Of course, we’ve been working our way through the new spooky eats and now we’re headed to another restaurant in Disney’s Hollywood Studios for more!
This year, ABC Commissary is home to not one, but TWO Halloween treats in Disney World! For now, we’re focusing on the Chocolate Mousse!
The Chocolate Mousse is made with a Raspberry-dark chocolate mousse, chocolate-almond cake, a layer of hazelnut crunch, and whipped chocolate-hazelnut cheesecake and costs $5.49.
This treat is certainly cute, especially with the little Mickey on the front, but how does it taste? All of the ingredients sound pretty good on their own — chocolate, hazelnut, raspberry, etc. But, putting all of the flavors together in this specific treat was, well…a lot. There were just SO many things going on with this treat and (in our opinion) too many flavors all mixed together.
Instead of complimenting each other, it felt like the raspberry and hazelnut were fighting each other. It was also incredibly rich (too rich for us). Couple that intense richness with the dark chocolate, raspberry, chocolate-almond cake, hazelnut crunch, and chocolate-hazelnut cheesecake and it was all just a bit much. It seems too much of a good thing can truly turn into a bad thing sometimes.
You’ve really got to love chocolate for this one, and you’ve got to like the idea of all of those flavors together. In our opinion, there was just too much going on for one treat. Of course, like all of the Halloween treats in Disney World, the Chocolate Mousse won’t be around for too long. Luckily you’ll have a little extra time to give this one a try as it will be available through November 11th.
We’ve still got a lot more new treats to try and all kinds of spooktacular fun to have so be sure to stay tuned to DFB for more!

As a baker, I agree that the flavors seem like a bit much. Hazelnut or raspberry, IMO. The chocolate-almond cake sounds like enough to rein in either one. Raspberry and hazelnut are both pretty punchy flavors, so I can see where they would clash.

Disney likes to experiment with the ingredients raspberry and hazel nut sounds great the dark chocolate not to much . There is people going to buy it so Disney needs to have a new treats to keep making money on the deserts . I bet the Instagram s love this from Disney .
Rebecca Burmesch says
Are there ever gluten free versions of the themed treats and cupcakes?
DFB Sarah says
Rebecca, Disney doesn’t typically make a version of a specialty treat in other forms — like gluten free or vegan, etc. They may have gluten free seasonal treats, but they would typically be a different design/flavor/etc. The only exact exception I can think of to this rule is that over at Animal Kingdom Lodge, where folks love the Zebra Domes (found at Boma and Mara), Mara does have a GF version that’s otherwise a good replica of the original. That’s not a seasonal treat, but you get the idea. 🙂
