Today Disney is hosting their Q3 Earnings Call, during which they report on their 2021 financials for their third quarter.
Disney+ was launched in 2019 and has grown immensely since then. Today Disney reported on the number of Disney+ subscribers, and it surpassed their expectations.
Disney announced today that as of July 3, 2021, Disney+ has grown to 116 million subscribers. This exceeded their projections for 113 million subscribers. Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu have performed well at 174 million subscriptions combined.
Advertising revenue increased by $400 million due to ESPN, and there was an increase in Hulu’s revenue due to growth in subscribers and advertising revenue. Revenues for Disney’s Direct-to-Consumer programs increased by 57% to $4.3 billion. Also, they reported an operating loss decrease from $0.6 billion to $0.3 billion.
